immobile transfer was always going to be complex because of co own. but yo may be right. both us and torino could have held out for a few extra millions maybe.

benatia is roma mistake. where is @Suns and @Dule90 to praise Sabattini now? he was linked heavily with chelsea and man city for 35million fees. even barca for a while, yet roma refused, only to sell him for...26 million. lol

    Said Tuttosport.

    And it's 30, not 26.

Whenever I praise Sabatini people jump in saying how Marotta is great.

I actually praised Marotta many times, I don't even think he's bad ffs. I'm glad we signed many of the players. In his first year I did not like his work, I thought it was pathetic. Later on he signed amazing players and I'm glad. However this summer I think it's far from special, just decent mercato that we had.

We won Serie A three times in a row. Sure, Conte was a wizard, but that doesn't mean I'm not Marotta any credit for his work here because he did great when he signed Licht, Vidal, Pogba, Tevez, Asamoah and Llorente (probably more, just from a top of my head).

Hell, even if I say that Sabatini is better that doesn't automatically means that Marotta is bad. But oh well, people here are mind-readers.
    I've seen it all now.

Serie A is a feeder and player developing league. Kinda like Ajax. Do you guys see them becoming a powerhouse again anytime soon? That's what I thought.
For the most part. We'll see what happens when we sell a player first, but teams are generally not wealthy. Player power is also a factor. Imagine Vidal comes out tomorrow and does what Benatia did, we could never get €70m for him.

I find it ridiculous how much praise Conte receives. Sure he won 5 trophies in his 3 years with us, but to make it sound like Conte worked magic is laughable. In the 3 seasons Conte was with us, the squads were ahead of every other team in Serie A. Sure it takes a good coach to win, but its not like he had a side comprised of players from Serie B.

It's like you've forgotten the era before Conte's arrival.

Well, Roma is a selling club, right. They poor. 26m + 4m in bonuses for a 27 year old is alright I guess.

Also, who cares, am I Sabatini's spokesperson?

    Roma :sergio:

They need to treat their players better if they want to avoid situations like these. Benatia didn't ask for enormous wages few months ago, certainly was affordable player by Roma's standards, but eventually became unsatisfied after their reluctance to offer him slightly improved deal and forced his way out. It was more matter of a principle here. Benatia was on 1.25m net, while Burdisso earns 2.5m. Fantastic work by Roma's mgmt here. If something like this happened in Juventus I can only imagine the amount of flack ours would get.

Makes it easier for us,that's for sure. Roma defence was so organized because Benatia played there.A backline of Maicon-Castan-Manolas-Cole is slow and mediocre, and they will drop silly points all along the season.

Conte is a big loss, but it can be argued that if the Benatia money is not invested appropriately, they will have definitely a weaker squad than ours, especially considering Strootman wouldn't be back for almost two months.

Roma better hope Manolas turns out well for them, as they just sold the best defender in the league and their best player from last year, the guy who turned their defense from one of the weakest in the league into one of the best... They need CL football if they want to continue their project and that defensive line now looks pretty sketchy.
