But it's idiotic to laugh at Sabatini. I didn't expect anything else from the members, though. Nobody gets to mention how Benatia wanted wages that Roma couldn't afford, so they pretty much had to sell him at this point. They wanted to keep him and offered him 3mln/season which he refused.
I don't laugh at Sabatini, the work he has done with Roma is exceptional.

But it's just as idiotic to laugh at Marotta. The double standards that are applied when rating these two directors, from both the Marotta and Sabatini fans, are hilarious and cringeworthy at the same time.

    This playground bickering is pathetic

You all suffer from "the my sand bucket is bigger and better than yours" syndrome
    People are retarded.

Whenever I or whoever says 'that player is great' it's being replied with 'oh but our x player is better'. I don't even see the point of it.

When people used to say 'Totti is great' you're surely gonna see 'Del Piero is better' discussion next.

But this Sabatini vs Marotta is one of the funniest things ever. Everyone is gonna laugh how much they spent, yet nobody says how shit they were with Sense. Everyone is gonna say how somebody is sold, yet nobody would mention the numbers of fees when they bough him. Of course, same people will ignore the fact how we were one of biggest spenders in Europe, yet choked there.

Still, what's even worse is that it has to be a comparison and Marotta is instantly being brought in. The Marotta defenders have to step up and claim how we signed star players. Yet same will deny the bad transfers, same deny the reality of an average mercato that we have right now.

    :boh:

Whenever I praise Sabatini people jump in saying how Marotta is great.

I actually praised Marotta many times, I don't even think he's bad ffs. I'm glad we signed many of the players. In his first year I did not like his work, I thought it was pathetic. Later on he signed amazing players and I'm glad. However this summer I think it's far from special, just decent mercato that we had.

We won Serie A three times in a row. Sure, Conte was a wizard, but that doesn't mean I'm not Marotta any credit for his work here because he did great when he signed Licht, Vidal, Pogba, Tevez, Asamoah and Llorente (probably more, just from a top of my head).

Hell, even if I say that Sabatini is better that doesn't automatically means that Marotta is bad. But oh well, people here are mind-readers.

Because of Allegri or stronger opponents? Weaker our team?
    Both to some extent IMO.

Not just Allegri per se, but I believe we're gonna be fragile due to our sudden change of the system. Everything we've been building for years suddenly disappears when we change to 4 man defense, less wide play and more focus on the middle and trequartista department.

I think we're gonna be exposed much more, despite the quality of our starting XI. I expect good results in Europe, though.

Hopefully I'm wrong but at this point I see us dropping quite a few points. I'm far from being confident like last year when IMO it was pretty much a walking park.

    Agreed.

I also however don't see Roma repeating their phenomenal last season. They've lost Benatia, and much of their gameplan last year was very much dependant on Totti, who due to his age and the resulting injury proneness is somewhat of an uncertainty.

I still regard Juventus as favourites, but much less so than I did last year.

So last year's Serie A best striker went for around 20 milion and leagues best defender is sold for 26 milion... I dont know whether to laugh or cry.

This is late 90's prices, Serie A is stuck behind in that regard also, idiots.

immobile may have been top scorer, but he had one good season under his belt. before that he was a nobody, and he didnt do shit at the world cup.

he also transfered to a shitty team so of fee could not be much.

see cavani a true world class striker going for a record fee for example

Well one season wonders like Munitis or others in different leagues were much more expensive years ago, now Serie A idiots are selling like they are on fruit market and buying the likes of Morata for 20 milion who barely scored.

Serie A is a feeder and player developing league. Kinda like Ajax. Do you guys see them becoming a powerhouse again anytime soon? That's what I thought.
