Del Neri-Udinese talks break down
By Football Italia staff

Confusion surrounds Udinese, as Gigi Del Neri’s expected arrival as Coach looks to have fallen through.

The 63-year-old was heavily reported as having agreed to take on the Zebrette and that he was due to meet with the club imminently to resolve minor details to replacing Francesco Guidolin.

However, with his confirmation not arriving, reports are that those final talks saw a breakdown between the parties, which has left Udinese to consider other options to them.

The Corriere dello Sport lead with reports that Del Neri and President Giampaolo Pozzo could not agree on two particular aspects to the Coach’s appointment.

It was believed that the former Sampdoria Coach wanted to bring in five of his own men for positions within the team’s backroom staff and was only prepared to continue working with one of those currently at the club.

Del Neri was apparently reluctant to find space in his staff for three further trainers - physical trainer Adelio Diamante, assistant Coach Diego Bortoluzzi and goalkeeping Coach Lorenzo Di Iorio - who are all contracted to the Udine outfit until 2015 and who the club are keen to confirm for next year.

Beyond this situation, it is also understood that the club did not see eye to eye with Del Neri’s initial requests in the transfer market, including targeting Fabio Quagliarella
.

Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta confirmed that talks with Del Neri had reached an 'impasse’ and that they would now 'continue dialogue with the other four names we had on our list’.

“Is Del Neri closed? In football, never say never, but I see this as difficult at the moment,” Giaretta has told Udineseblog.

“For the name of the Coach you will have to wait a few more days.”

It is seen that names in contention include Edy Reja, Andrea Stramaccioni and Rolando Maran, but that proposed new targets may have emerged in Delio Rossi and Diego Lopez.

I figured it out. Juve's strategy....own all the top scoring strikers and if they are loaned to another team sell them abroad. :D

That way no one can beat us.

THEN buy the worst strikers at an inflated rate and sell at a fraction of the cost while they are hyped as a league champion. :touched:

How much have we spent on strikers over the last 3 years: quag, gio, boriello, amauri, matri, bendtner, anelka? All those salaries and fees and their goals included still don't add up to how many immobile has scored. :touched:

Spezia (Leali, Appelt, Magnusson) qualified for playoffs by drawing away from against Latina today who finished 3rd, would be great if those 3 played SerieA next season.
