I have known quite a few Italians who resent Ale, because he has failed to deliver for the national team.

But I believe that there comes a point where you have to show some respect. Even if I absolutely cannot stand Lionel Messi, you have to admire what he has given to the game and to Barcelona. Same goes for Totti, who, by the way, is far from as disgusting as a lot of people make him out to be. Sure, he can be a bit daft in the heat of a postgame interview, but all in all he's quite likeable.
I agree  We are first and foremost football fans and should be able to appriciate its legends for what they do on the pitch, performance and as people.

But disagree on Totti, I dont dislike him for his off the pitch interviews or behaviours (even if they are daft), but his disgusting dickhead behaviour on it, not evil, but defenitely detestable enough, Lion made it clear, but if you need more:

He is an absolute stupid douche.

I even got abuse for having the audacity to say that Baggio was better than Del Piero (which he clearly was, even if the fanboys on here will never admit it). They went nuclear when I praised Totti the player as a genius.
Dude Morata is better than Higuain already. Morata is better than Diego Costa already. Morata is as good as raul was.

Also Del Piero is a better player than Messi so obviously he is going to be better than Baggio. Its a Tardfest in here.

Predictable in a positive way obviously :D

Most defenders know how Messi dribbles for instance but can't stop him because he's good at it, that's being predictable but good. Del Piero on the other hand would just invent something depending on the situation he's in.

Messi and Baggio would run fast, dribble past players, fake pass/shoot, drifts to the left if open shoots, Del Piero would either backheel pass you, bicycle assist you or just play it simple and wait for the perfect moment to create something.
Well if you want unpredictable go for the best and that is Ronaldinho. Thats what real magic is about.

Messi is at a much higher level than Baggio ever was. Average form Messi is twice as effective as best form Baggio and is infinitely more potent than Alex ever was.

Hist pretty much nailed it with the last post. Pretty much took down 3 of my most favourite players a notch (Del Piero all time, and Baggio first magical player for me, and Ronaldinho most fun player to watch, EVER). Pretty much agree, except the part of average form Messi being twice as good as best Baggio, taking the piss bit too much, clearly havent seen best Baggio to say that, even if Messi is quite bit better then Baggio in almost every way.

I wonder what Messi would do outside of Spain?

Baggio was in Serie A at its peak and owning everyone. Messi is only part of a 2 horse race over there.

What is the problem here.

Messi is a far better player than Baggio.

Just because Roby is my favorite player of all time and I think he is the greatest, doesn't mean that, realistically, he is not.

And stop mentioning me every time someone says something about Baggio. It gets fucking annoying after a while

Blatant exaggeration. Baggio and Alex were playing in Serie A while it arguably had the best defenders that this game has ever seen and run rings around them, league where 7 great teams took part and almost equally fought for the title each season. It's not hard to be effective in a league where most defenders can't tackle, nor position themselves adequately, anticipate, etc...
