 Who the hell says it takes courage to whine and bitch and make endless excuses after a loss...

It takes courage and strong mentality to take the loss like a man, with no excuses, and the admittance, that on the day, the other team was better. Something a player like Buffon does.

A European Super League would be interesting. It would get Juve out of the toxic and pathetic climate of Serie A. Say, 20 top teams on the continent playing in a Super League. It would be interesting to see the top teams play each other week in, week out, without all the filler against terrible minnow teams. It would make those top 20 teams very competitive with one another as tv deals would be massive and could be shared in a way that was conducive to this, rather than having 4-5 teams on the continent with a huge deal more wealth than anyone else.

The question is, would it be a closed league? Or would there be promotion relegation from the domestic leagues, or second tier European League with the mediocre clubs like Roma and Valencia and that ilk?

I suppose the Champion's League would turn into a regular cup competition for the league.
Unfortunetly this will never happen unless UEFA somehow seriously pisses top clubs off. I would love this Football NNHL/NBA type of league. Domestic leagues are too grounded in the football culture for anyone to try this though.

It'd be pretty crazy to see the top 30 European teams in a Super League. Imagine all the skill and talent on display each weekend. That's what makes hockey great, is the parity. All 30 or so teams really are competitive. I suppose the CL could turn into the playoffs at the end of the season too. Have the league finish and then the top 8-16 teams play a knockout playoff at the end of the season as the CL part.

You are right though, would never happen. It would be amazing, though. And the TV dollars. You'd think UEFA and top clubs would be down considering how much money that could rake in.

Icardi: I matured too soon

The 21-year-old received a lot of flak for his behaviour while dating Wanda Nara, the ex-wife of former team-mate Maxi Lopez, but he says the criticism was unfair

Inter striker Mauro Icardi has rubbished the public perception of him as a lovestruck teenager, arguing that, if anything, he is too mature.

The 21-year-old Argentine has arguably made as many headlines for his antics off the field as his performances in it, with his relationship with Wanda Nara, the ex-wife of former Sampdoria team-mate Maxi Lopez, having attracted huge media interest since it was first exposed.

However, Icardi, who was slated for his constant public declarations of love for Wanda on social media sites, insists that he has only ever followed his heart and feels that he has been poorly portrayed by the press.

Consequently, he is baffled the suggestion that he is now all grown up just because he and Wanda have now married and are expecting their first child in the New Year.

"Have I grown up? I've always been like this," Icardi told the Gazzetta dello Sport. "My team-mates tell me that I'm like a 30-year-old. The truth is that I matured too early.

"I repeat that the idea of me as a different person was created by others. Yes, there has been trouble. But outside [of football]. I just did what I felt ..."

There were constant reports that Inter wanted to offload Icardi during the summer, with Atletico Madrid heavily linked with a move for the forward.

However, the Rosario native, who has hit seven goals in 10 appearances in all competitions so far this season, is now reportedly set to be offered a contract extension until 2019.

Icardi claims he knows nothing about a possible new deal but he is fully committed to Erick Thohir's plan to restore Inter to their former glory.

"I still don't know anything yet about the renewal," the attacker insisted. "But I chose Inter and I want to stay at Inter.

"There's a desire to build something here. The president [Thohir] has a lot of clear ideas.

"This is a new and young project. It takes time but winning is what everyone here wants."

I think the way the club is handling our PR since the 2006 situation rather poorly and that became very apparent last month.
Here are the facts:
1) We were convicted with a sentence that said we didnt do any match fixing
2) We were relegated to Serie B
3) Calciopoli 2 court said we werent guilty
4) Palazi said we weren't guilty
5) We are amongst the teams that get the least penalties in Italy over the last 6 years.

So only (2) looks bad and you have 4 other points to build your PR strategy on. Despite that favorable position, we are perceived as the dirtiest big club in Europe and as cheaters.

Now look at Milan:
1) Guilty of match fixing and relegated in the 80s.
2) Not guilty of match fixing but nevertheless punished first by relegation but then overturned to points reduction in 2006.
3) Owned by one of Europe's most corrupt politicians with cases against him every few months.
4) Palazzi said they should have been relegated in 2006 for match fixing but are protected by the statute of limitations.
5) They got the most penalties of all the big teams in Italy over the last 6 years.

Despite all of that they are perceived as a sleeping giant and a classy honest club around the world.

Of all the big clubs in Italy, we should have the best image while Milan is the opposite extreme and yet somehow they have the best image while we have the worst. Milan always lays low when these allegations are being thrown around. That strategy doesnt work for us. Juve should actively campaign to cleanse its image. Juve should continuously emphasize the calciopoli 2 trial and Palazzi's report. Juve should continuously emphasize that we receive much lesser penalties than the rest of the big clubs. The club should be more like Bayern's management... upfront and aggressive towards anyone who criticizes them. What we do is that we bend over and let players and clubs and media slander our names hoping that the "truth" will come through or that people will just forget that we were relegated.

This is terrible PR and It seriously affects our attractiveness for new fans if not players too. Juve should take a firm stance and thrash de sanctis the way mourinho would have when he (sanctis) made those comments about the club's history and Gigi. We need to be rude and aggressive whenever anyone even hints at cheating. Our lawyers need to be aggressive. agh..
