I still remember how folks (Milan fans) went wild over that one season of Nocerino, they even said he's a WC player :lol2:

Reminds me of Marchisio story.
I really wish I could find the quote but on the Milan forums a poster said how he wouldn't sell Nocerino for even 80m as he was so good and had potential to be one of the best in the world.

It was in conte's first season I think

Anderson began training with Fiorentina today and the former Manchester United man changed his name on the jersey. It’s reported he has chosen the shirt number 88 and will change his name on the back to Andow. This reflects the name he uses on Instagram, Andowlove. :sergio::sergio:

Also purple rats may sign Jan Verthongen in the next couple of days, as he is in Florence now, but some say he may be there on vacation... He would be an upgrade to their pathetic defence, thats for sure..

I remember Gigi picked no. 88 in Parma back in the days and had to change it due to protests from the jewish community or something like that (H being the 8th letter in the alphabet, 88=HH). Glad that's not an issue these days.

About the name change: :sergio:

Yeah he changed it to 77=GG :D So had to change to 1.

I'd imagine the whole 'Andow' thing was a nickname the United lads gave him, it's pretty common here for lads to call each other (nick)names with two syllables. Three is obviously a real struggle.

Borriello just had a controversy with that at the beginning of the season.

I didn't even know until the Buffon "controversy" that it could be considered antisemitic. FFS, 88 was the year I was born, I use it in my email address. It just seems like another case of people getting offended over nothing.
