I think it's a good deal for them, I must be the only one here . They get a fine replacement for Cavani and have 23M left from his sale. His wages are on the same level as Cavani's and more importantly they needed a 'top player' if they want to be CL for next season(s). With Higuaín they have the potential to be a structural top 3 side imo. Gotta spend money to make money.

I don't think Napoli are aiming to be challengers for the scudetto, they aim to be a structural top club in Serie A and I think with a new RB their squad is good enough for that. They were in B with us not too long ago, their management must be fine hence the recent results and CL qualification.

In Napoli's situation you're always going to overpay, RM aren't having their annual yard sales anymore, where players like Sneijder or Samuel got sold for peanuts. Selling clubs know you've got the cash.

Nah, it should indeed be interesting. I expect our forwards to be out of the battle after 15 rounds. We'll remain a team where the goals are spread between 10-15 players, even if our new strikers should pass the +10 goals a season barrier which the old crew could't pass.

Serie A is going to be very interesting this year! Lots of upgraded teams, star power growing again and this will hopefully continue and translate to CL wins and Europa League success.

I see the top of the league finishing something like this

I'm not sure if Napoli and Milan have enough for a 2 front battle. Napoli in 2011/12 just couldn't play on two fronts and today they aren't that much better than back in 2012, when they had Inler and the Hamsik-Lavezzi-Cavani trident.
That's in regards to the scudetto battle. But playing in CL and serie A might also endanger their top 3 chances, so one of the other teams might take advantage of that and sneak into the CL places.

Quality wise, though, Napoli should win the 2nd place with ease, while Milan are 3rd best.

He was by far madrids best striker, in a two man frontline even outscoring ronaldo. He's however not so good as a central forward assisting bot to a roaming ronaldo, yet still outscored fat benz with ease.


He would have done terrific at juventus, but i'm not sure for napoli...
He is not a lone forward, he's FAR more effective in a two striker system.

He cannot play a cavani/falcao/higuain role. to make him work in a 4-2-3-1, you need to have a trequartista playmaker that is the main outlet of the team, that holds up the ball. the 3 am's are making the play, and he's just the spearhead, looking for the opening, but not beeing a target himself.

and thats where napoli are gonna have a problem. mertens can do that, but his quality is limited. insigne has a simular problem, he can make runs off the ball into space, but once on the ball, his time is limited. he cant keep the ball, much like giovinco.
And hamsic, while talented, doesnt has the qualities that the required trequartista needs.


All in all, to make Higuain work, they would need a beastly trequartista. Luca modric, cesc fabregas, are technically on the market. those players is what he really needs.
But Napoli payd SO MUCH, that they cant afford him


What will happen ? they'll do well as a counterattacking team, for that they got the players. But they cant make the play. they'll struggle at home against the top teams, but might grab a win in the away games

Napoli should have kept it at 25mil with installments, or a 50 mil for him+modric. or another 25 on fabregas.
