Thought Samp were really good in that game.

They put a huge effort in in the first half, pressed hard, forced a high tempo and scored a good goal.

They were never going to be able to maintain that for the whole game, though, and they fell back and defended well in the second half and probably should have finished the game off on the break.

Genoa just looked terribly chaotic. Don't know if it's just the lower standard of player compared to his previous spell in charge, or if he just needs more time to knock the team into shape, but there wasn't the good movement off the ball or good movement of the ball that I would associate with a Gasperini team when they are attacking.

According to Sardinian newspapers, it seems increasingly likely that Cellino will indeed sell Cagliari to Qatar Foundation.

That would be great for Serie A, they'd build a new stadium quite quickly I'd assume.

Thats a very unusual choice. I was actually surprised the Qataris went for Ligue 1 rather than Serie A when Serie always had and continues to have a better brand than the french league. Its not like there were no struggling Italian teams with rich histories available for sale. The milanese teams were up for sale and teams like genoa, bologna, Roma, Lazio, Napoli and Torino have a good history and are probably purchasable. If I were the Qatari foundation, I'd have bought Torino and created a proper City of Turin Derby again the same way the owners of Manchester City did especially that Juve is dominating again.

Whats Cagliari like as a city? is it one of the main attractions of Italy? does it have a strong footballing culture?

Either Way, this kind of investment can only be good for Serie A. Hopefully more money will flow in.

Beautiful city with plenty of history (all the way back to the Moors, and also has a strong Catalonian past/heritage), the city and region of Sardegna are extremely popular tourist destinations, the Costa Smeralda is one of the most amazing coasts in Italy. Like all of Italy, football is king there and Cagliari is the main team of the Island. Shrewd purchase.
