For those who like stats. Rus is banned, but I'm sure there are others who'd like to check some stats now and then.

I find number of crosses rather interesting category. Pirlo, Vidal and Pogba are our players who have put in majority of crosses into the box. Tells you all you need to know about our WBs.

Offsides category for anyone (Bjerknes) who thinks Llorente is a poacher. Only 3 offsides in 14 Serie A games, Higuain 16...etc...

Allegri: We're the only Italian club in the CL 1/8 finals.

Interesting. But if you look at this:

Chiellini is our cross king. :shifty: Even more than Jorginho.

And he's second on our squad for offensive crosses next to Pirlo

Those are passes, crosses are different category.
http://www.corrieredellosport.it/live/SerieA/statistiche/giocatori/cross.shtml :) And it is interesting (number of passes) from perspective of where most of those are completed. Chiellini has the highest number of passes in Juve, 3rd in Serie A, but more than 50% of these are in our half. Arguably the guy with the worst ball control in our first 11.

We generally don't cross the ball much, it's not part of our standard game. If we had better offensive wing backs maybe we would, but more inferior teams are more likely to play the percentage game associated with crosses. Crosses are one thing, but you won't find stats for crosses in good areas. Our wing backs tend to dribble the ball or come inside to keep possession, we are not panicked to hit the ball in.

I like the short, passing and controlling game we play, but at times would like to see a bit more of the ball being put into the box from wide areas. Our last game showed the benefit of that.

Cant agree with that assesment. The reason why pogba and vidal drift out wide is to compensate our wbs defficiencies in that area. I would expect little more than 1-2 crosses per game from each.

No, the reason Pogba and Vidal drift out wide is to stretch out the defense, so Tevez and Llorente can drop down into the pocket that gets created in the middle and do their thang.

We don't cross because we don't want to lose possession.

Our CMs drift wide because our fullbacks are often up ahead of them when we have lots of possession and it's natural for a CM to drift wide to give the fullback an option to pass back. Example being Asamoah passing back all the time. Usually it's to Pogba or Pirlo. Their crosses are coming more from the corner of the box then the corner flags as a result.

:confused:The WB's are essential since Vidal/Pogba can't quite force the defense to stretch if they are alone when they drift wide. Like the system or not, it works.
Wingers and fbs behind. You would have 3 players to do their thang, striker and 2b2b mids. :klin:It works in Serie A of course.
