The penalty given is an absurd. Absolutely lame dive from Balotelli.

And that Zapata hand-ball incident...

I can't believe these things still amaze me but the level of corruption in this league is ridiculous.

Balotelli's dive is so bad, if refs give that then they need to give a penalty any time there is a corner in serie A. Every team in italy holds in the box like that at any free kick or corner. To give a penalty is very harsh considering they are never given. Only 1 if my Milan admits that Milan get help with refs when it comes to penalties, the rest of them are so bias it makes me sick.

its clear figc want teams to get closer to juve. milan penalty is never given, and more often it would have been a yellow for diving. but the penalty napoli got this weekend was worse, blatant dive: about 23 seconds into the vid

I think that's his 18th penalty in a row. I think Balotelli is probably the best pk taker in history. Just goes to show you that the game isn't about being smart, it's about being confident.

I know Balotelli made the most of that one but it wasn't really that scandalous, he's clearly being pulled back.
If taken out of context and judged individually the situation per se is nothing unusual really. As you've rightly pointed out some shirt-pulling occured. Penalties have been given for less and mistakes happen.

If you look at the big picture however you see what can be considered scandalous, i.e. the alarming frequency of such dubious incidents being called in Milan's favour while in the same time referees being cautious of what they blow their whistle for against Milan.

I think there have been quite a few such incidents already as of late which demonstrate that. It happens almost every other Milan game nowadays that controversial calls occur.

well, that and a strong precise shot, a great technique, and generally beeing more clever then opposing keeper

Is Hamsik still in that tunnel or has he emerged since celebrating the penalty down there that had to be re-taken?

I only saw one replay of the Balotelli penalty and Zapata handball. Run down?
Penalty was fair enough. Clear shirt-pull and outwith the main crowd, so easier for the ref to spot that most shirt-pulls in the box.

I'd have sent Zapata off for the handball, but I don't consider a terrible decision from the ref just to book him.

Having a strong precise shot and great technique is a prerequisite to be a professional footballer, especially a striker. I'm not saying you just need to be a confident person,or else, you or I can go and take those penalties just as well. I'm saying you need to have that confidence as a professional football player. Many great players have missed from the spot despite their incredible technique and skill. Baggio's famous miss is a case in point.

The fact that I would prefer Balotelli taking the last spot kick instead of any other player in the world including Messi and Ronaldo is not a testament to his skill or cleverness(he is neither more clever nor more skillful than either of these players), but rather the sheer belief that he will score.

The shirt pulling on Balo, yeah he dove a bit but why the hell is the defender pulling his shirt? No excuse, 100% penalty. The Zapata hand ball was a joke though...that should pretty much be a red card.
