Yeah, I don't think the players who were put out did too badly for the most part.

Could easily make the case that Lazio actually started with a better team than Juve in the second leg:

Storari-Marchetti
Barzagli-Biava
Bonucci-Dias
Peluso-Ciani
Isla-Konko
Giaccherini-Gonzalez
Marrone-Ledesma
Vidal-Hernanes
Padoin-Radu
Vucinic-Mauri
Giovinco-Klose

Juve 3 - Lazio 5 - Even(ish) 3, by my count.

How did you get Juve 4? Vucinic, Vidal, Bonucci and Barzagli are superior players to their lazio 'counterparts'.

Why are people assuming Napoli will manage to get Nianggolan?
Because they are good at snatching these kinds of deals.

We outplayed Lazio over both legs to be fair
No we didn't.

Juve outplayed Lazio in the second half in Turin.

The other three-quarters of the tie were pretty even.
More or less so and when even it was what Lazio wanted.

And look at our line up...
And you are one of those who were replying to everyone in the summer that Juventus operated on depth, it's time to eat your pants because we have no depth at all. One play on international duty and the other injured and we are playing like a Serie B side.

It's a stupid way of comparing teams, anyway.
Sure, it's nothing particularly scientific.

Would you disagree with my basic point that the Lazio team was stronger than the Juve one?

You can't really expect Juve not to struggle against one of the best teams in Serie A, when that team is playing their first-choice side and Juve are only playing less than half of their first-choice team.

Maybe but then again we lost at home to Sampdoria, one of the worst sides of the league.

Starters are starters for a reason, no matter the depth. So if we have players missing and then also deliberately field other fringe players we will be a weaker side than our strongest XI.

Saying we played like a Serie B side is obviously exaggerated rubbish.

The point of my post was, where is the depth that you praised Marotta for?
