That was the first time I've seen them this season that they actually looked like anything resembling a cohesive unit.

Admittedly, Palermo were rubbish and didn't do anything to trouble Roma, so hard to draw many real firm conclusions from it.

I like to watch them because they play with more pace and width than a lot of Serie A teams, since they do usually play with Gomez and Barrientos nice and wide and high up the pitch.

Them playing with that width makes for interesting confrontations when they come up against the teams playing with back threes, to see what adjustments both teams makes and who is able to impose their style better.

Was a shame that they chickened out and played 3-5-2 against Juve, though they still troubled Juve on occasion, because they caused Inter a lot of problems at San Siro and ended up forcing Inter to chance to a back four to contain them.

Lazzarri is used in more of a box-to-box role when he plays. Pinzi is probably the closest Udinese have to someone capable of dictating the tempo in midfield.

It's just refreshing to see any league that still values technique and intelligence ahead of athleticism, as entertaining as it is to watch Lee Cattermole...
In a league where very few teams play with wide attacking players, it is quite refreshing to see Catania use Barrientos and Gomez out wide like that. I watched part of Catania's game against Lazio last week, and even though Lazio deploy a 4 man backline, Catania's wingers just killed Lazio's fullbacks Konko and Cavanda. The thing about Catania's wingers is that Gomez is a right footed player that plays on the left, while Barrientos is a left footed player that plays on the right, this allows both players to tuck in, and allow the full backs a lot more space. They did that time and again with Lazio, who handled it better on their left because Lulic does more tracking back and defending than Candreva on the other side, their right hand side was absolutely destroyed by Gomez and to a lesser extent Marchese.

Also, the number of teams that now play with 3 at the back is alarming in Serie A. What monsters have Napoli created :D

As for your last statement, i think the Liga values technique just as much as Serie A if not more, however intelligence is a trait thats more valued in the Serie A than it is in the Liga imo.

what a pathetic chairman
telling Sneijder he won't play or train with squad if hé doesn't accept the lowering of his wages.

if refs had to pay for all milan were awarded last season....hmm...

'Ref will pay' for Juve-Inter errors
By Football Italia staff

“Paolo Tagliavento will pay for his mistakes” in Juventus-Inter, confirmed the chief of the Referees’ Association.

The official came under fire last week when he and his assistants did not spot a clear offside in Juve’s goal, then failed to award Stefan Lichtsteiner a second yellow card.

“There is nothing behind our errors. Mistakes can happen, but then we must turn over a new leaf,” said AIA President Marcello Nicchi.

“Tagliavento will pay for his mistakes, but he will be back on the field after that. I defend him and so does the Referees’ Association.

“No referees were involved in the disgusting betting investigation and that is something to be proud of.

“This has returned to being a dignified association. I also feel like a referee, even when faced with the occasional technical error that we end up making.

“The important thing is that there is nothing behind our mistakes. A referee and our association are like kites – the more the wind blows against us, the higher we soar.”

We're still going to win it by a mile though. They can't stop us.
:agree: no way Inter keeps it up. it would be kinda cool if Italy only had one CL spot from now on and it was Juve getting it all the time.

Seriously I live a 3rd world country, never seen anything like this. Italy is pretty corrupted.
they're so fucking biased it's not even funny. like mukumsplau said, I don't recall refs getting punished for not calling offsides in other games. such bullshit

if Italian football had the exposure it does now 15 years ago, i doubt i would have been a Juventus fan, the league lacks so much quality and has been dragged through mud for years, marketing wise it is probably one of the worst in Europe, probably at the levels of the portugese league, maybe french at best.
