its actually now reduced to 1 year which he wont serve because he passed a law that people over 70 don't go to jail in an attempt to resolve the overcrowded prisons, and the statutes of limitations will work in his favour. what a complete A hole!

Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi has been sentenced to four years in prison and will be forced to pay part of a €10m fine for tax evasion.

The verdict was delivered by a Milan court on Friday afternoon – six years after the trial which looked at the activity of his Mediaset TV company – originally began.

Legal cases in Italy must pass two levels of appeal before any verdict is made final. The statue of limitations rule on this case expires in 2013.

Berlusconi is expected to appeal.

While in charge, Berlusconi passed a law that says that old people (70+) can't go to jail. I'm not making this up, it's true. They can be sentenced, but they can't serve time in prison. So he won't serve a single minute in jail. And as some people have already pointed out, the statutes of limitations are soon to pass anyway so ... He'll get to spend the remainder of his days in his villa banging underage chicks.
