We don't need Jovetic
No, not at all.

Let's just forget the fact that he is 22 years old, and has already impressed on the European stage as a 20 year old.

Let's just forget the fact that he is nowhere close to a finished product, yet had 14 goals in 27 matches last year while coming back from a torn ACL.

Let's just forget all that.

That there was a dance of a man whose script just clicked. He is just enjoying Jojo's price going up.

No, I see Jovetic as a goal scorer, because after all, that is what is important
Jovetic doesn't look for the goal, he looks for the ball. We need someone who looks for the goal and that doesn't just mean scoring goals. It means being a presence in the penalty area, stretching the defence, scoring easy tap ins, being a threat on the air and many other things that Jovetic isn't.

The bottom line is he scores goals, and can do it, as is exemplified by his record and his 2 goals today. People are just looking for excuses not to want him here. If we were talking about sacrificing the acquisition of JoJo for a truly world class striker, then so be it. However, the guys we are being linked with are in the 2'nd tier of strikers (very good players, but not the type that will actually win us trophies or make the difference when it matters). If we miss out on him, we are going to regret it.

You don't get it. We need somebody who can score 6 goals every match, because 2 means nothing.
Don't be like that, unless you seriously believe and see Jovetic as a goalscorer and is capable of scoring goals regularly just like that. Jovetic is known and attractive player for a lot of reasons but saying that goalscoring is his main trait is just not true.

If we already had Dzeko or Llorente I'd love to see Jovetic here, no doubt.. But we don't and lets try to fill the hole we already have when we got the chance to sign a quality CF like Llorente or Dzeko before adding a 3rd SS.

No, if you have an understanding for the game of football then you'd know what a real CF would add to our team. A CF is important because he's a threat off the ball. And Jovetic can score goals but he's on the same level as Vucinic, Giovinco or Matri in that department. It would be a whole other thing if Jovetic regularly scored over 20 goals a season but he doesn't.

I do have an understanding for the game of football. Reread my post. I said if we were acquiring a truly world class striker/CF, I'd be more than willing to compromise and lose out on JoJo, as much as it pains me to say so. However, none of the names we have been or are being linked with are world class. They are all very good strikers, but not players I'd be willing to sacrifice the acquisition of JoJo for. Lest you forget, we also lost Del Piero this year, and the fans deserve a player who can make them dream and give them that element of fantasy, and Giovinco is never going to be that player (no matter how much you, or any of his fanboys, myself included, want him to be).

Talk about knee-jerk reactions. :inter:

If you only you reason like this on other matters, Suns.
