Rossi reveals what Ljajic said
By Football Italia staff

Delio Rossi has revealed exactly what Adem Ljajic said to provoke his physical attack. “I understand Serbian...”

The Fiorentina Coach was sacked after he struck 20-year-old player Ljajic during an incredible dugout brawl following a substitution in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw with Novara.

Rossi accepted the decision and apologised to Ljajic, but refused to confirm or deny what was said during his farewell press conference.

However, he has now told La Repubblica newspaper what sparked his totally out of character fury.

“While he was going back to the bench Ljajic applauded and said to me: ‘Well done, maestro. Really, you’re a phenomenon.’

“I told him he shouldn’t dare behave like that and he offended me in Serbian. But I have trained many Serbian players in my career and I understood what he said.

“He told me to ‘go back in your mother’s ****’ and at that point I lost it.”

The article also claims Ljajic goaded Rossi during the attack, repeatedly telling him to hit harder ‘as they’re going to kick you out anyway.’

Meanwhile, Fiorentina have confirmed Ljajic’s father will not press charges against Rossi, changing his mind after telling the Serbian media he would contact a lawyer.

Ljajic has been frozen out of the squad until the end of the season and is unlikely to ever play for Fiorentina again.

As expected, a spin on the classic "go fuck your mother.

Players tell it to referees much more often, yet they don't punch them.

What Ljajic did was stupid but yet something that's rather normal, especially in football. What Rossi did was idiotic.

thats like insulting your boss like that. very unprofessional. I dont really care if its a common insult.
It was silly to that. But imagine if you tell that to your boss and he punches you in the head in the middle of some meeting.

Ljajic (by his age) can be his son. He's an old douchebag and THAT is immature and unprofessional on HIS part. Majority of coaches (like 99,99%) would ignore such remarks and put him on the bench, fine him later by the club or whatever. Common or not, it was just an insult. What Rossi did is way worse however you look at it.

Hell, I told that to my teacher. I was an ass, but I did not get punched for that.

It's not even an insult. I think I said it at least 3 times since this morning to each member of my family :D Actually, I say it to myself whenever I do something silly.
It more or less has the same weight "Fuck off" has in the US or England.

I don't think Ljajic said that. He probably said something worse than that but Rossi didn't understand what was said exactly. He understood a word or two and thought it was the well known insult. And he can lie as much as he wants, but it was the sarcastic "well done maestro" which provoked the reaction.
