Saying that Algeria is part of the Middle East is like saying that the United States of America are in Europe.
"The Greater Middle East is a political term coined by the Bush administration[1] to englobe together various countries, pertaining to the Muslim world, specifically Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan.[2] Various Central Asian countries are sometimes also included. Some speakers may use the term to denote areas with significant Muslim majorities, but this usage is not universal. The Greater Middle East is sometimes referred to as "The New Middle East"."

Just drop it already!

Not quite, there's this big thing between them, apparently they call it the Atlantic Ocean. Do a bit of research, even Morrocco is part of the "Greater Middle East" - but off-topic. Let's talk about the Scudetto!!!

Is it? They said that the Middle East produced Zidane.

I think it was quite accurate.

Report me if you want, I couldn't care less.

"What a stupid thing to say" >> Reported.
Don't report posts, it's gay.
No one said that, the first post said that Zidane is from Algeria and that's enough to grant an arab country the honor of hosting the WC.
No, it's not enough to grant an Arab country a WC.
So what if it isn't in middle-east. Forget middle-east. Algerie produced Zidane because his parents were Algerian. Doesn't matter if he lived in France. He can't change his background.

Your argument of Fred saying Zidane nuff said just proves my point.
Wrong.

He went to youth academies and played for teams in France.
Not at all.

He learned his football in France, he was by no means produced by the Middle East, nor by Algeria.

Is Stephan El Shaarawy a product of Egypt or of Italy? By all means, of Italy.
Agreed.
It is part of the "Greater Middle East"

Scudetto anyone?
You will not win the Scudetto this season.

Enough said.

It holds no historical or geographical value.

If he parents are from Egypt, I'd say he is a product of Egypt.
He is not a product of Egypt - technically he could play for Egypt, but he's a product of Italy who raised, trained, educated, and provided the platform for him to become the player he now is. Egypt couldn't produce half that sort of player as they have no systems in place for these sorts of things.

"Middle East" is simply a term Europeans begun referring to the region by, "Middle Easteners" never thought of themselves as "Middle Easteners" - hence the whole term holds no value, just a reference point in the euro mind.

WHO CARES

SCUDETTO TALK NOW PLEASE!

France always had those sort of "platforms" how many players of Zidane's caliber or as gifted as him naturally did they produce ??
