He is not a product of Egypt - technically he could play for Egypt, but he's a product of Italy who raised, trained, educated, and provided the platform for him to become the player he now is. Egypt couldn't produce half that sort of player as they have no systems in place for these sorts of things.

"Middle East" is simply a term Europeans begun referring to the region by, "Middle Easteners" never thought of themselves as "Middle Easteners" - hence the whole term holds no value, just a reference point in the euro mind.
