Is it only in Serie A or do they have rules like this in Spain and England too? Honestly, if this is really happening Serie A is digging its own grave to accommodate their "beloved" Azzurri.
I worked it out a few days ago, as of the top division first team squads then, the PL had 39% English players, La Liga 65% Spanish, Serie A 59% Italian and the Bundesliga 54% German.

England has laws based on being able to gain work permits for non-EU players, it depends on the ranking of the country the players comes from, and how many caps he has for them.

Spain has a limit on the amount of non-EU players in the match squad, maybe the squad overall, I'm not so sure.

UFOs visit Palermo President
Friday 2 July, 2010
Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini believes UFOs may have paid him a visit this week.

Zamparini woke up yesterday morning to find a series of crop circles in one of the grain fields he owns in Friuli.

“It's a really strange feeling,” Zamparini explained. “To say there have been UFOs would be an exaggeration.

“The problem is that in this region of Italy these strange phenomena have been repeating themselves for some time.

“It could be the work of a man even if a similar job would take at least 20 people and it's strange that no one realised them doing it.”

Zamparini is known for his outlandish statements, but even he appears dumbfounded this time.

FIGC curbs number of foreigners
Friday 2 July, 2010
The Italian Football Federation have reduced the number of non-EU players Italian clubs can register each season from two to one, sparking outcry.

The move comes on the back of Italy's poor showing at the World Cup in South Africa and seeks to prioritise the development of homegrown players.

However, the Lega Calcio - the body that protects the interests of those clubs in Serie A - hasn't welcomed the news.

“The Lega doesn't want to reduce the number from two to one,” Sergio Campana, the President of the Italian Footballers Association, said.

“We need to start a policy that limits the foreigners and values the academies. The reduction from two to one has been passed by the Federal Counsel even though the Lega wasn't agreed.”

Lazio President Claudio Lotito is one of the first to condemn the ruling.

The Biancocelesti had deals lined up to sign two non-EU players this summer and will now have to shelve them, hindering their pre-season.

“This decision penalises some Serie A clubs who had table bids that now cannot be concluded,” Lotito said.

“Perhaps it was better to postpone the decision until the next transfer window [in January].

“This solution will not resolve all of Italian football's problems, but now is not the moment to make trials.”

Curbing non-EU players is like trying to put out the Great Fire of London with a water pistol, if they want to limit foreign players then that would have to be across the board, including EU. FIFA would have to go to some agreement that didn't contravene EU employment laws, like an accepted 6+5 proposal.

Is this a reaction to Italy's fiasco?
Apparently. This is a pretty idiotic business decision to be honest, and wasn't the sort of reaction to a dismal Italian World Cup that was needed. Instead of revamping the league as a whole, getting the stadia in order and becoming a better brand to the world, Serie A takes the opposite route of the EPL on all levels. The reason why the Prem is so popular is because of their marketing and broad base of foreign entities.

But this is common with politicians all over the globe. Extend and pretend is their M.O. Instead of taking the necessary, difficult steps to fix problems, they take the easy way out. And that usually does more harm than good.

Fuck the Azzurri and FIGC. Stinking filth.

Zac blames failed objective on failed staged alien invasion
Football Italia
April 25, 2010

Alberto Zaccheroni insists that the lack of an alien invasion during the 2009/2010 Serie A season is the reason why Juventus will not secure a Champions League spot.

The Bianconeri welcomed Bari to the Olimpico this afternoon and won the match 3-0, but the result was not enough to save their season.

"I don't like to blame anybody but my own team for my failures, but this time I have to do it," claimed the coach.

"If there was something that happened during the year to deflect pressure off our shoulders, like a real or staged alien invasion, this would have turned out better. But no, it's all their fault, they didn't come this year.

"Admittedly you could say that I'm not being objective, but when you look at Roswell there was something that crashed. You know that Area 51? That is real. So I don't know why they didn't invade.

"People should be careful in criticizing aliens because you never know when they will fly in and lift you to their vessel. But I have to say that they failed Juventus this year. They failed me."

The former Milan manager also commented that he tried to stage his own alien invasion but failed.

"Since the aliens seemed unlikely to come after the Fulham result, I had to take matters in my own hands," assured Zacc. "I was going to report to the authorities that Sebastian (Giovinco) had gone missing and was probably abducted by invading aliens, but Blanc would not allow me to make the statement to the press.

“The one thing I didn’t take into account when thinking of this plan was that Giovinco was not really missing. So it wouldn't have worked anyway."

Juventus will finish out the season with matches against Catania, Parma and AC Milan.

Yea f*ck the Azzurri.

Juventus is way more important.

Absolute fucking morons. Yet another reason to hate the Azzurri.

Do they really not care about restoring the league's quality or preserving its spots in Europe?

I mean seriously wtf is this?! Its like they don't care about the effects this will have on Italian football as long as it helps the Azzurri win another World Cup.

Perhaps they are just preparing themselves for the inevitable European-wide regulations, personally I think it is just a matter of time. It would give Italian teams a headstart over many in European competition.

You can't ever really plan to help the national team with the league, aside from having a steady flow of home grown players, because international tournaments are decided on little details. Surely it would be in the clubs own interests to develope young players regardless of nationality.

One comment here struck me, so many think the Premier League is a disgusting entity but Serie A is supposed to follow their commercial model? Looking at the aftermath of the England team's pathetic World Cup, people are sitting around now saying there is too much money in English football, that you can't have success at both domestic and club level. Even pointing out that most of the big PL stars from EVERY country have done quite badly at the World Cup. The opinion is that the game is too focused on commercialism and money and has moved away from what made it popular domestically in favour of appeasing international fans watching on tv. Perhaps that is what people would prefer for Serie A, I don't know.

I know so many English people who are absolutely disgusted with the PL, many who won't even go to watch their team they watched for 25 years anymore, and not simply because of pricing. Perhaps all football is destined to be this way.
