:) I guess Inter with Benitez will lose some of its "greatness". But it's not our problem I suppose, just have a look at Liverpool and their current position... CL 05' winning team was created and set up by Houllier, then with RB it was only worse.

I'd like to say hello to all after some little 3-year break

:flag1:
Benitez will do well at Inter i don't know why so many here are writing him off. This remind's me of the argument that i had with some of premier league fanatics last summer.

They were Arguing that Ancelotti will struggle in the premier league because as they say if he struggled to win with milan domestically in a :gsol: shit league:gsol: like serie A that there are no way he can win in the premier league (bunch of dump asses you guessed right).

They didn't even bother to look at milan's squad or the situation that he had in his hand at the time. The fact that Ancielotti managed to reach 3 champions finals in his short period with milan (with their average team) in itself is a miracle and it shows how good the guy really is (even great managers like wenger couldn't match that).

Benitez track record is great, 2 league titles with valencia (very few managers did that in tom and jerry's league) plus 3 european finals winning 2 of them. With two clubs that didn't have the financial muscle that Inter have.

With the money that he will have at Inter plus the situation that both us and milan are at ATM. He can "easily" win atleast the league title in the next 2 years.

Milan had an average squad?

with milan (with their average team)
Milan's squad wasn't average at all. It could've been simply that Ancelotti's ideas on Milan didn't pan out anymore. What was good and result-bringing for many seasons simply became useless. The last season for Chelsea might've been 'a new broom sweeps clean' effect ;) I'm not trying to disregard either R.Benitez or Ancelotti. But I'm pretty sure you can find better coaches than them.

Agreed. That was quite an achievement but to be honest PD in that times wasn't just a Tom n Jerry league. When Valencia won their last title, Real Madrid placed fourth in competition, behind Deportivo La Coruna. Only a year before, Valencia ranked 5th after champions from Madrid, Real Sociedad, Deportivo and Celta Vigo! At that time, the league could've been won by any team really. Throughout the entire history PD was surely dominated by 2 clubs and this gap between Barca, Real and the rest of teams only widens from 2005.
Coming back to Seria A and Inter, they're undoubtedly a rich club but I'd like to remind you that Chelsea isn't poor at all and they didn't manage to win CL yet as Inter did. Same Mourinho, same or even bigger money in London and yet unsuccessful in european cups.
I'm sure you know that luck is also pretty important factor in sport, especially in football. And with that little luck of the draw and wise mercato :bigscarf: can engage in Scudetto race more succesfully than it was done last year.

Inter will get Mascherano.
I'm not quite sure what they'll do with him.

They don't really need another ball winning midfielder. What they really need, if Benitez is to play his 4-2-3-1, is someone who can pass to play beside the ball winner in midfield.

they don't currently really need any additions (maybe another LB) but they might need to replace one or two if RM gets them

but I don't see why get Mascherano, it's like they want to feel that they're benefiting from Benitez arrival already..

Lecce sign Olivera Friday 11 June, 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Newly promoted Lecce have pulled off something of a coup by signing Ruben Olivera from Uruguayan side Penarol.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder spent five years with Juventus as a youngster and also played for Sampdoria and Genoa.

He arrives on a free transfer and signs a three-year contract with the Salentini who are preparing for next season in Serie A.

Olivera last played in the Italian top flight in the 2008-09 season when he scored four goals in 20 appearances for Genoa.

Thiago Motta could be going to Madrid.

Yeah, but will Benitez play Mascherano and Cambiasso play together?

Liverpool were at their best when they had Alonso beside Mascherano and have looked less balanced when playing two destroyers with limited passing.

They may not need one, but there are many other players that would improve them more than Mascherano considering how much Mascherano would cost.

I'm with you on that, if the 4-2-3-1 is going to be used then perhaps a wide player and a left back.

I'm not sure about anyone else but I think losing Motta would be quite big for them as well.
