Agreed. Benitez will make despising Inter a lot more fun.
I hope the folks happy about this are also thrilled that Inter will still be able to trump us quite easily.

Yes, hooray, Mourinho is gone. But Benitez is really the next best option for them.

So it's a big loss for us once again, while we fart around with a mediocre douchebag manager.

Angnelli will either look like a smart fuck or a dumb fuck, we had the Rafa deal done, if Rafa completely fucks up inter then he will be praised but if they destroy everyone next season thanks to Rafa then everyone will come out and murder him for the decision

Rafa could represent a return to the good old days where Inter spent more money than anyone else, bought the best players in the world and still came second.

Then again that might just be wishful thinking

The initial reports are that it will be a 2 year contract. This year I don't expect Inter to buy much. They bought 6 starters last summer and the team won everything. Even if Benitez wants to bring lots of players, Moratti won't let him.
Next summer though, they will probably buy more. It depends on how Benitez does this season and if Moratti will trust him enough to give him lots of money for transfers, but in any case, Inter will need to buy more players.
If you look at the team that won the CL, you'll see that in 2011/2012 apart from Motta (who'll be 29), Pandev (28) and Sneijder (27) all the others will be in their 30's. Even the bench players like Stankovic, Cordoba, Materazzi, Chivu (who are already in their 30's) will need replacing.

I can not imagine Benitez taking over a club and having a modest transfer campaign. That's probably the reason he left Liverpool. :D

Benitez goes into a ready made team who have just won the treble, whilst Del Neri is trying to build a team from shit, how can you even compare them next season?

And he'll buy who exactly?
Even Mourinho was complaining that Moratti told him how the club is good enough and big investments aren't needed. Right now Benitez will have lots of explaining to do if he wants to buy X to replace Y, considering how Y was part of Inter's most successful generation in more than a century.

Moratti might get him Mascherano and a replacement for a starter who leaves Inter (if there are such at all). That will be all, apart from some cheaper players for the bench.

I'm not arguing your point, just find it incredible because it's Benitez. The guy sells and buys 30 players annually.

I believe that Moratti is bringing in Rafa to drive the bus. The team has been built and proven that it can win it all. All Benitez needs to do is not fuck shit up.

We'll see how hard that is this upcoming season

Benitez is great, no way he'll screw things up at Inter. People wishing him to fail are pretty much day dreaming we all wish if it will happen but most likely it won't....

I don't Inter are going to get affected by this in Italy. As they are still the strongest team in Italy and should be able to win it without too much trouble. However, in Europe I think they will struggle. The reason why Inter won the C.L this year was mainly due to Mourinho's brilliance in reading and preparing the game. I don't think Benitez can emulate what Mourinho did or even come close for that matter.
