Alen, was our first goal last night O.G or Marchisio?
Owngoal by the goalkeeper. Marchisio was shooting and it took a slight deflection from a defender. If the ball ended up in the net then it was gonna be a goal by Marchisio since he was shooting on goal anyway. But the ball ended up in the post and from Eduardo's head (or back) was deflected into the net. Nothing doubtful about it being an owngoal by Eduardo and it's registered as such.

well.. any news about an Eto'o ban, guys?
Eto'o and his act are getting a lot of negative reactions from everywhere. "Critics from half the world" is Gazzetta's title. Apparently, Berlusconi's mediaset is showing the incident regularly.

This is the most important part so far:
The referee's designator Casarin commented the incident: Eto'o has fallen in the trap of the words said to him during the match (Wow, could this be an excuse to give him a smaller punishment?), because there is no other explanation why would he do such a thing. The first thing that crosses my mind is that if the referee saw the incident, he would have red carded Eto'o, but instead Eto'o was left on the pitch and was given a chance to overturn the result. That could make all this more severe (he wants to say that the punishment might be more severe now).
Etoo's gesture will have the obvious outcome. Everything is against him right now.
The referees watched the ball instead of watching what Eto'o was doing (Yeah, right!!). That's a mistake that mustn't have happened.
------------
Well, it's obvious that the referees will get a lengthy ban, but imo Eto'o will get one too.

So does it count as a Marchisio assist? I noticed you left it blank yesterday :D

But surely someone has forced the own goal! Inadvertantly anyway, pah.
Yeah. Same with penalties. The one who wins the penalty should be given an assist if the penalty ends up with a goal (unless he himself shoots the penalty and scores). But officially they don't count these as assists.

Perhaps we should create our own rules and use them in the stats thread :D

In the end it doesn't really matter. The assists are an indicator of course, but not always an objective one. Krasic can make a pinpoint pass to Iaquinta, through 5 oposition players, Iaquinta can miss an open net and Krasic won't get an assist for that. On the other hand he can make a 1 meter pass to Del Piero who shoots from 35 meters and scores, and then he will get an assist.

Moggi pwn'ing Inter.

Inter have been reduced to smoking rubble, torched by Rafael Benitez who has destroyed an empire built by Jose Mourinho, and not even a new wave of Calciopoli will be enough to douse the flames, claims Luciano Moggi.

"Inter are finished. Their credit, obtained from Calciopoli has ran out," Moggi told Gold TV.

"And for sure [Massimo] Moratti caused it by replacing Mourinho with Benitez - the complete opposite.

"The team has turned from being a warship to a weak mob.

"To win again Moratti will probably need a new Calciopoli..."

And with Inter charred, if not completely burnt, Juventus, Milan and Roma will feed off the scraps.

"In Italy the team who has Zlatan Ibrahimovic always wins," Moggi added.

"I wonder if [Arrigo] Sacchi still thinks Milan made an error by signing him.

"As for Roma, they are out of the crisis and they have reaquired self-esteem. Now they can return to being great again.

"Juventus? They deserved to beat Genoa and are doing well, but thinking about the Scudetto would be an illusion for the fans."
