Ibra: 'Milan the best team in Italy'
Sunday 29 August, 2010
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is in Milan and already sending messages to Inter.
“I know I’m in the best team in Italy. I won’t leave until we’ve won.”
The Swede will complete his transfer and undergo a medical tomorrow, but is set to salute the fans ahead of tonight’s Serie A opener against Lecce.
“When I heard Milan were interested in me, I was immediately excited. I’m happy it all went well, it’s a great move,” he said of the loan and option to buy from Barcelona for €24m.
“I came here to win, am sure we will win and I won’t leave Milan until we’ve won. I know I’m in the best team in Italy and one of the best in Europe.”
That is already a message to his former teammates at Inter, who have dominated Italian football in recent years and are fresh from a Treble-winning campaign.
“I have great memories of Inter, but this is the past. I was also a Juventus player, don’t forget. Inter won everything, so they have other things to worry about rather than me.
“Why did I kiss the Barcelona shirt when I signed the contract? They asked me to and I did it.”
Ibrahimovic had also been linked with Manchester City, where he would’ve reunited with Roberto Mancini and Mario Balotelli.
“When I heard that Milan were interested, I immediately said yes. Everything that Adriano Galliani has done in the last few days and all the players I saw convinced me.
“I spoke to President Silvio Berlusconi and Coach Massimiliano Allegri. The President gave me a warm welcome.”
He will partner Brazilians Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato in a stellar 4-3-3 system.
“The strike force is fantastic, the best in Europe and the world, but the whole team is strong and I am certain the fans will enjoy themselves.
“Everywhere I go, I try to win, and I’m coming to a club that has many trophies already. I hope we can get the Champions League this season, but also the Scudetto.
“I hope to stay for all four years of my contract, but I also know that football can change quickly.”
