Inter really relies on 2 people for offense. Ibra and Maicon. Now that half of that might be cut off they become so much easier to defeat. Now, their whole team changes.

They can't play with such a narrow defensive midfield because they won't have near the same attack from the right wing as they had before. They might have to try some more offensive minded midfielders like Figo or Mancini, which we all know will not go that well.

Santon on the right will not provide near the threat of Maicon.

Maicon will miss D-day

Inter will have to face Juventus without Douglas Maicon because of the defender's thigh injury.

Maicon has been one of the stars of the season for the Nerazzurri and is a crucial component in Jose Mourinho's team with many seeing him as the best wing-back in the world.

But the Brazilian was stretchered off the pitch in agony during the Selecao's World Cup 2010 qualifier against Ecuador.

And it has been confirmed that Maicon has a relatively serious problem with his right thigh.

It now seems certain that Maicon will be absent for the vital Derby d'Italia between Inter and Juventus in Turin on April 19.

Maicon's loss is a big blow to Mourinho and is a rare injury for a man who has played in 40 of the Beneamata's last 42 games.

The best possible scenario would see Maicon return on May 3 for Inter's home game against Lazio.

Mourinho can take some consolation from the news that Ivan Cordoba, Marco Materazzi and Cristian Chivu are approaching match fitness.

Look increasingly likely Maicon will play no part in the derby of Italy.

Looks like the season is over for Maicon. Brilliant!

Inter's best players and the players Inter really depends on are Julio Cesar, Maicon, Cambiasso and Zlatan.

Out of 29 serie A matches these guys played on:
1. Julio Cesar 29/29
2. Maicon 28/29
3. Ibrahimovic 27/29
4. Cambiasso 26/29

Together they missed only 6 matches.

On the match where Maicon didn't play Inter drew at home 1:1 with Cagliari.
On the two matches where Ibra didn't play, Inter won 1:0 at home with Sampdoria and drew 3:3 with Roma.
On the three matches where Cambiasso didn't play Inter won once and drew twice (Genoa 0:0, Fiorentina 0:0, and win over Reggina 3:2 in the last minute)

On these 6 matches Inter won twice and drew 4 times.
It still didn't happen two of these four players to be missing at the same time.

If we add that two other very important players, like Zanetti (29/29) and Stankovic (23/29) also didn't suffer from injuries, you can see why Inter didn't have many problems this year.

Our problems on the other hand are well known.
Camoranesi missed 19 serie A matches so far, Buffon missed 15, Sissoko missed 9 matches so far, Chiellini missed 8, Del Piero didn't play on 8 matches, even Nedved who is one of the most consistent players in our team missed 6 matches alone (just as much as Inter's quartet of best players).

If we're lucky and if one of the other 3 best players in Inter gets an injury soon enough, then we might, just might, have a chance to do what seems impossible at the moment.
Inter have quality and they can still win even without 2 very important players, but Mourinho said how his team is created in such a way that if even one of the main players is missing, the whole game plan needs to be changed and the team suffers. Hopefully that's what will happen to Inter without Maicon and i'm pretty sure that that's exactly what will happen to Inter if one of the other 3 gets injured.

So, come on Ibra, Cesar or Cambiasso. Get some serious injury :D

It's gonna be tough even if we win the rest of our games. It all needs to start this Sunday with Udinese if we can still believe in doing the "impossible".

How ironic that it could be decided in the last round with LAZIO. Only difference is the WE play them and not the merdazzurri. :scared:

They are all also balding rapidly.
