Inter will get owned very bad! Mark my fucking words.. I can bet on that anything you want. Inter is not going to qualify to quarters, it is as simple as that.

I know goal.com is not allowed, but this deserves an exception:

Beckham – 4.5: Without doubt the least influential player on the park, the Englishman had no impact whatsoever. He was substituted after just 57 minutes as a result, and was replaced by the veteran striker Pippo Inzaghi.

Goalies: VDS vs Cesar pretty even, both can be top class on their day
Defence: Losing Vidic is a blow, but manu's central defence is perhaps the strongest and most consistent in the world. Crucially though is that while Inters forwards will choke/struggle against manus defence, Manus attackers will create plenty of chances against inter's defence. Fullbacks, both teams are strong, but Manu's are better.

Midfield: Again, Manu have better starters and more strength in depth.

Attack: Same.
In fact, I'm going to predict that Inter have at least one defender or defensive midfielder sent off. Burdisso being a prime candidate of course.

Conclusion? Manu's has the edge defending against manu's forwards, and their forwards have the edge against Inter's defenders. No Contest

(apologies for writing a post that's almost as bad as ****.com's tactical analysis pieces.)

have you watched them recently? Their central defensive partnership is world-class, and even when Evans plays it's very, very solid. Fullbacks, Maicon is excellent, Santon is very very green, whereas Evra's incredible and even if it's brown that plays, he's pretty damn good, and very experienced

I said Vidic-less defense, because Vidic won't play next Wednesday, right?

Samuel-Chivu or Samuel-Cordoba is at least as good as Ferdinand-O'Shea or Ferdinand-Evans.
Santon probably won't play at all because Maxwell is back now and he'll be 100% fit for the 1st leg.
Even though i think that Maicon is better than Evra, i'll be generous to Evra and say they're equal. Maxwell is at least on the same level as Neville and Brown.

When you compare them player to player they're at least equal (imo, Inter are better) but when you compare them as a unit you will see that there is a big question mark over Manu's defense because they will have to play without their leader and best of the back 4, Vidic.

I'll be honest, I don't rate chivu and cordoba in the least. solid, but nothing spectacular. Forgot about maxwell though. I rate Maicon, but better than Evra?! Also, Ferdinand is the leader at the back, not Vidic. I agree though that he is their best defender. I would definitely argue about inter being man-to-man stronger than manu though

Maxwell was never injured iirc. He just simply wasn't performing. I didn't watch the game, but apparently he was horrible against Atalanta and had been a liability defensively for a while. Santon started the next game against Roma in the Coppa and has played ever since. Maxwell has gotten some time in those games, but it's always been in the midfield.

I agree that Santon probably won't play against ManU. He didn't do enough today (although held his own) imo. I still wouldn't put it past Mourinho, but it's doubtful considering he's going up against Ronaldo. Regardless of who's on the left, they'll get plenty of help from Muntari/Cambiasso.

Santon has started 6 games in a row now, Maxwell hasnt been injured, but he lost his spot to this young kid who plays as a solid as a veteran.

Doesnt mean its sure he will play against Man U, but he is the sure starter. If he will benched against Man U, which is somewhat likely even if he played the big derby, then Zanetti is more likely to play there, or Chivu, not Maxwell (liability defensively, but a reccuring thing, but disastrious Atalanta game was the last straw), Mourinho made that clear enough (critized Maxwell).

Maicon is light years ahead of Evra. Its not even a close call imo. If we're looking at pure impact on the game. Maicon is a brilliant crosser of the ball, and his technique is much higher than Evra. they're pretty close in terms of dribbling and running with the ball. But Maicon has end product that evra doesn't have. I'm not even going to begin to compare who the better defender is. the way i see it, theres no way the two are equal.

If we're going on individuals, the two teams are actually pretty close. Inter have the better keeper and the better fullbacks. If you take Vidic out of the equation, then they'd be pretty equal in central defense. Inter have the better defensive minded mid's as well. but Man Utd are better in the attacking midfield department and in the strikers department.

all in all, i think Man Utd edge it in terms of players, but only slightly, simply due to the fact they have more match winners on their team. C.Ronaldo, Rooney and Berbatov all can be match winners on their day.
