Maicon is light years ahead of Evra. Its not even a close call imo. If we're looking at pure impact on the game. Maicon is a brilliant crosser of the ball, and his technique is much higher than Evra. they're pretty close in terms of dribbling and running with the ball. But Maicon has end product that evra doesn't have. I'm not even going to begin to compare who the better defender is. the way i see it, theres no way the two are equal.

If we're going on individuals, the two teams are actually pretty close. Inter have the better keeper and the better fullbacks. If you take Vidic out of the equation, then they'd be pretty equal in central defense. Inter have the better defensive minded mid's as well. but Man Utd are better in the attacking midfield department and in the strikers department.

all in all, i think Man Utd edge it in terms of players, but only slightly, simply due to the fact they have more match winners on their team. C.Ronaldo, Rooney and Berbatov all can be match winners on their day.
 Pretty much agree on everything....

I rate him too. One of the best if not the best leftback in the world right now. But to compare him to Maicon is a bit too much. Not because Evra is bad, but because Maicon is a legend in the making.

But this doesn't mean that we should accept whatever results are provided if we know we can do better, which we can.

By the way, I didn't mean to come down hard on you, I know you're a reasonable mind.
No problem, I know folk get a bit too emotional now again.

And of course we shouldn't accept whatever happens, but right now I am content to see that the squad is improving year on year.

Probably next year and definitely the year after, I will return to the point where anything other than winning is not good enough.

Well if he's light years ahead he must be the best player on earth.

Come on, he is not some up and coming youngster, good but your love for him seems exessive.
Pace aside, what does Evra have on Maicon? Maicon is better in every aspect of the game.

You forget Moli!

Are you another who consider him a legend?
Not yet, but Maicon is in the right path.

He's a rightback i know, but they're both fullbacks so they can be compared, right or left.
In this case it's correct to compare RB to LB because they'll play one against the other (on the same side). Evra will defend where Maicon attacks and vice-versa.

It's going to be a very interesting duel.

I could be wrong, but I think he is good but not the stuff of legends.
I do think he'll make it and in 10 years he will be mentioned together with Cafu and Carlos. Yes, much will have to do with his success on NT and club level but if he keeps playing the way he plays in the last 2 and a half seasons and if he wins the WC with Brazil (and much less realistic, the CL with Inter), i'm sure that he'll be considered one of the all time best, because he does have the quality.

Cafu was 27 when he left his mark in Europe for the first time. Cafu was +30 when he made his greatest successes, both on club and NT level.
Maicon is also kind of a late bloomer. He was 25 when he joined Inter and he's getting better and better with each new season. His physical condition and strenght is remarkable and i'm sure that he'll be superior physically even in his 30's.

Maicon is easilly the best fullback in the world right now.

I guess that's how you know we won't the scudetto this year. Inter have Maicon, we have Grygera and Molinaro.
