Its not about this latest injury only, they have downplayed and deliberately withheld info about his injury for the last year.

Been out quite alot, but they have been very vague about this severe injury, to prolly hide the career ending injury it prolly is.
When it comes to vagueness nothing comes close to Redondo's injury though.

Yep, same back injury since WC times (the reason he retired from the NT), it has been quite recurring, but very vague about the details of how long it will take, to somehow save face. Like they care about PR more.

Nesta talked a little about how serious it was a while back, that he will get back, of how dissapointed he is that some doesnt seem to believe in him etc.

They just didnt want to give up on him, he had similar injuries in Real.

I understand why, you exhaust every chance you got to get back a ridicolously classy player like that.

The players want to get back as well. There was a tragic case in Belgium a few years back. This guy had broken his ankle and it didn't heal well because the surgeon had made a mistake. He kept on trying to come back and actually played two or three games, but was in pain all the time. He had to run on his toes at the start of each training sesson. At the end he broke his ankle again and it was over.

The club and the player always said he'd be back soon though.

more like "shredded" is the term you are looking for
Exactly.

Well, aren't there surgeries that can fix that?
To a certain extent, yes. To this day doctors don't understand everything about the joint. Moreover, what if too much cartilage is gone? Yeah, you can do some exercises, you can perform certain operations that help, but you're not going to be able to play pro football.

that depends on the type of tear he sustained. if he did the trifecta (tore all 3 major ligaments) then its nearly impossible to return to even a shadow of what you were prior to the injury. i don't know the details to his injury but it could be the trifecta or poor rehab treatment for a singular tear
