Because he's a liability. He thinks it's fun to play at 40 only to collect appearances. Even though he sucks and is hurting the team he loves. I mean I think it's great he's still going, because I hate Milan as well, but I'll never understand him.

And people "respect" him because of it. If I were a Milanista I'd curse him to hell and back.

I think it's the other way round with Maldini.

I think he probably wanted to retire last summer, but was convinced by Galliani & Co. to continue for another season because they didn't want to have to sign a new CB.

This is the first season that he has really become a liability, though.

The thing is he's still their best defender.

I think he should have called a press conf years ago and said; "Thank you, it's been wonderful but now it's time for someone more able to come and replace me." And that'd be the end of it.

They can't force him, only influence him. He simply didn't want to go.

You may be right.

I have chosen to interpret it the other way, because I do have quite a lot of respect for him.

I still love it when he fucks up and costs Milan goals, though. :D
