On the Balzaretti - Molinaro issue, I believe one of the reasons Balzaretti looked better to many is his confidence on the ball. I admit that he is technical for a fullback. That was the absolutely first thing I noticed when he made his debut - how secure and elegant he was with the ball at his feet.

Molinaro is definitely the better defender though. He might look more messy, but he also has that extra gear that Balza doesn't. I would have kept Balzaretti though since we really needed some competition and depth at the LB position last season.

To make this thread more interesting...... anyone else apart from Rab and Hoori thinks that Zlatan is playing superb football and he's one of the best 3 players in Europe right now? (here you go, assholes. Here's your question mark.)
I know you said apart from Rab, lol... But just wanted to say that Palermo doesn't really make him one of the best, unless Palermo turned into (Barcelona, Chelsea, Milan, Juventus, Bayern etc).

He doesn't perform against the big teams. So he doesn't make the top 10 to me.

He needs to pass the Choker exam first.

    100%.

Personally, I got pissed selling Balzaretti....But with every single game Palermo is playing, I figure out that he's nothing but a bit of decent technical player for a fullback like you said. Other than that Molinaro is a green light by miles.

I don't agree with that. Molinaro somehow makes up for his defensive inaneness by his running ability, but he really doesn't mark well. I'd say they are on the same level defensively.

I have to disagree with you Andy.

I think Molinaro is ahead of him defensively....reasons are...

    - Molinaro physically is much better than Balza.

    - Molinaro marks better 1 vs 1 than Balza.

    - Molinaro's got Stamina....one of his main powers. Even Grygera and Zebina don't have as much Stamina as Molinaro.

    - Balza is ahead of him in crossing passing and combining with attackers. But other than that Molinaro is above him IMHO.

I don't agree with the marking comment, Rab. We've seen how well Molinaro marks on crosses, and apparently he doesn't remember a rule that you learn when you first learn how to defend... staying goalside.

Thats right... but I've notice lot of changes since the Madrid home game. He has been more than okay in his last 5 matches to say the least.

I hope he continues this way and doesn't prove me wrong.

Since you guys are in correction mood. This sentence actually means that Rab and Hoori think that "Zlatan is playing superb football and he's one of the best 3 players in Europe right now". I'm sure thats not what you meant :D

On a more serious note, I think that Zlatan, when on form is definitely one of the best players in the world, but he's too inconsistent for my liking. My top 3 would be Ronaldo, Messi and Casillas(despite his bad start to the season).

Interesting, does that mean you don't rate C.Ronaldo in the top 10 either??

Cristiano is a choker? why he doesn't score against Arsenal,is that why? ffs he scored in the CL final, the only ManU player in last season's final(big game) to score, what more do you need?

btw I think Cristiano is partially responsible for Clichy't own goal yesterday. You know, how he almost made Clichy a similar goal last weekend; so it's very much possible Clichy was thinking about that and was in two minds when he made contact with the ball.

Positioning and marking might not be his strengths, but his pace and aggression make him very able to make up for some of his weaknesses. I think the one thing that he really needs to improve is his touch/technique.

I mean, Chiellini isn't a great defender because of his Maldini-like positioning, but his aggression, physique and bravery is what makes him truly stand out.

This is why Criscito failed for us. Tactically he was up to it, but his weaknesses were Molinaro's strength. And I rate the latter higher, for now.

Seriously though guys, what about Inter's midfield last night?

    Cambiasso
    Vieira Zanetti
    Muntari

Extremely tough to beat mayhap. Talk about uninspiring though..
