Zambro relishes return to form

Milan defender Gianluca Zambrotta is delighted at becoming the first name on Carlo Ancelotti's teamsheet in recent weeks.

The World Cup winner joined the Rossoneri from Barcelona in the summer and has settled back into life in Italy after a shaky start.

Zambrotta has played more minutes than any other Diavolo player this season and is relishing his role.

“It's a great thing for me and a real pleasure,” he enthused on the Milan Channel.

“I have only just arrived here and so it's proof that the Coach believes in me.

“Moreover, I want to stress that all my teammates have helped me settle in so quickly.

“I have shrugged off my pre-season problems and I feel that I am playing better and better.”

Milan lost the leadership of Serie A last weekend when they conceded a last-minute equaliser to Lecce at Via Del Mare.

“Drawing a match like that seemed to be a defeat,” Zambrotta admitted.

“But we played well and therefore can't have any regrets. We have played worse in away games and we did at Atalanta where we took three points.

“We played some great football in Lecce and created several scoring chances, but it wasn't enough.”




I hope Zambrotta knows how he'll perform when he'll play against us. Zlatan, Cannavaro should be a good example for him.

I have no hate for Zambrotta though. He gave us a lot and was an outstanding fullback for so many seasons. I know many of you would call him a mercenary and what not but I will always hold Zambrotta in high esteem.

As a player, of course we all think of him very high. The best full back in the world few years ago and still one of the best fullbacks today.

What made me dislike him was the non-stop flerting he had with Milan. He wanted Milan and nothing else during Calciopoli. We forced him to sign for Barcelona. During his two years in Spain at least once a week we were reading articles about him and how homesick he is, how he wants to play in Italy and it was always Milan the team rumored to be Zambro's next destination. Zambrotta himself couldn't stop praising Milan.
He is a Milan fan afterall, but he's never shown his appreciation for Juve during and after Calciopoli (on the opposite, he blamed us for "stealing" two years of his career and two of his tittles) while he was full of praise for another team involved in Calciopoli.

99.9% of the football players are mercenaries. People like Del Piero or Maldini are rare nowdays.
I don't mind at all that Zambro is a mercenary. I mind how he treated Juve and Milan after the scandal.

But one thing he should know is that when we win CL or even reach CL final, all these legends (Del Piero, Trezeguet, Nedved, Camoranesi Buffon) will go down to Juventus history for ever and not only remembered. They'll be remembered as players that played in Serie B and made the CL


Sorry, but I just can't forget how he jumped immediatly off the sinking ship at the time we were down.

Well, yes, I do agree with you two at that. I also was disgusted at his sucking up to Milan and the way he blamed Juve for the Calciopoli. I hate how he left us when we were in dire need for decent players. He out of all players should have stayed after all the years he spent at the club. However, one could understand his anger at the time.

Even some Juve fans deserted the club after the calciopoli, these were genuine Juve fans who supported the club for years. It's understandable he would feel betrayed by Juve, not betrayed by the club itself and its fans, but betrayed by Moggi and co. He still had some kind words for Juve in recent interviews and he remains a quality player.

He should have appreciated what this club has given to him and he shouldn't have been such a Milan suckup but not everyone is Del piero, Trez, Gigi, Neddy, Camo, or Chiellini. That's what makes the players I just mentioned so special to this club and will forever be remembered by the fans.

I have no love for Zambrotta after all this, but what I was trying to say is I also don't have hate for the guy. I'm pretty much neutral towards him.
