Tonight Bayern Munich hosted Inter for a prestigious friendly which would award the "Beckenbauer Cup". It was not a match to be remembered, with very few chances, but Inter won't mind as they only needed a fine goal by new purchase Amantino Mancini, early in the second half, to secure a morale-boosting victory.

Coach Jose Mourinho played with his trademark 4-3-3 system with Esteban Cambiasso in central defence, Dejan Stankovic in front of the back four, and Adriano as a lone striker supported by Figo and Mancini on the flanks. Meanwhile, Bayern had a 3-5-2 formation with Miroslav Klose and Lukas Podolski as strikers.

The first half was very locked up as both teams struggled to raise the rhythm and create chances, leading to jeers and whistles from the crowd at half-time.

In the 7th minute of the restart a mistake by goalkeeper Michael Rensing allowed Inter to open the score. A poor goal kick allowed Inter to win the ball, Figo playing it to Mancini who fired a subtle lob which went in off the crossbar.

After this, Inter began to sat back to defend their lead, and did that remarkably well. It seems that Mourinho has already managed to give the Nerazzurri the same efficiency and organisation he gave Chelsea.

Among Inter's more impressive performers on the night were goalkeeper Francesco Toldo, 36, who still showed the same sharpness he had 10 years ago, Adriano, who seems to be improving with every game although he was somewhat isolated in this game, and Cambiasso, who once again showed his versatility by proving to be a rock in central defence.

Meanwhile, Bayern youngster Toni Kroos, who came in after 22 minutes to replace the injured Martin DeMichelis, showed some of the qualities which prompted German journalists to predict a bright future for him.

Really hate to say this, but this inter side looks very strong. It's been what 2 weeks since inter started training and mourinho's touches is very clear on the team allready. Very orginized defence and smart attack :melayyanandmessi: .....

Roma are going to buy Baptista for 8 M£ and we got Poulsen. We're doomed.
They are also lining up Huntelaar and Drenthe incase the Baptista and Malouda deals dont go through. So we are still doomed.
roma are going about this all wrong IMO,sure they ahve required a proper CF for a few seasons now but they have lost a lot of strength at the back. they are gonna end up like a retarded kid chasing a chocolate bar going forward, while we sit back and hit them successfully on the break

Kaka surgery was 'useless'
Thursday 7 August, 2008
Milan’s club doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman has astonishingly claimed that Kaka’s recent knee operation was a waste of time.

Having been blighted by a knee problem throughout last season, Kaka went under the knife last month and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

But Meersseman insists that Brazil’s national doctor Jose Luiz Runco was wrong to perform the procedure because it only treated Kaka’s meniscus injury and not the inflammation of his tendon.

“With the operation the player wanted, time was lost because he had to undergo rehabilitation without curing the other problem,” Meersseman roared.

The injury to his meniscus was cured during the operation but it had nothing to do with the inflammation. The procedure was useless and damaging.

Kaka could be out until October with his current problem as reports suggest that his recovery has been slower than anticipated.

I'm loving it.
Milan had the same problem with Ronaldo when the Brazilian doctors and Milan lab diagnosed the problems differently and threated it differently.
We know how it ended with Ronaldo and hopefully the same will happen to Kaka :p

It's also strange how both Ronaldo and Kaka decided to go to Brazil to ask for a second opinion and they decided the operation to be performed there.
I thought the Milan lab was the best in the world and now i see that even Milan players don't trust team's doctors.

With Kaka out until October (and since his injury becomes chronic, i'm sure he'll miss a lot more matches after October), with Ronaldinho literally walking on the pitch and with the poorest physical condition i've seen from a football player, with Borriello injured, Inzaghi injured atm and injured for 3/4 of the seasons, with Nesta playing 3 matches and missing the next 5 due to his back injury....... i can't help it but disagree with those who see Milan as a strong favorite for the scudetto.
