Adriano key to Lampard?
Sunday 13 July, 2008
Adriano plus £10m cash could be used to prise Frank Lampard away from Chelsea, according to reports in Brazil.
Inter have a deal with the England midfielder, but his club are refusing to enter negotiations over a £7m move, warning he may be forced to sit out the remaining year of his contract even if that means losing him on a free transfer.
Now Brazilian newspaper O Globo suggests a compromise has been reached between the two sides.
Adriano is returning to San Siro after a six-month loan spell at San Paolo and may not stay for very long, as he is to be offered to Chelsea in part-exchange for Lampard.
Although he said that Jose Mourinho was interested in relaunching his career at Inter, it seems that former Brazil boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is also keen to work with L’Imperatore again.
Adriano is seen as a solid alternative to Didier Drogba and a replacement for Andriy Shevchenko, who is set to join Milan.
