In business terms its quite unsuccessful way of dealing with things though, dont you think so? What has Sheva brought in to the side, this Sheva. Why did they even brought him back.

Did they really expect much from him? I don;t think so. Did they really buy him because they need him? I don't think so.

At the risk of sounding corny, they only brought him and Ibrahim Ba:)D) because Milan is a family :shifty:

Do you happen to know how much Milan paid for Sheva?

Sheva wasn't a done player when he came to Milan. He had two bad years in Chelsea but he was still scoring all the goals for his NT. There was still hope for him and people still thought that he will find his form in Italy.
No info was given publicly about Sheva's transfer. He was probably brought back for 0 eur and Milan still hoped that they can get something from Shevchenko.
They thought they made a great deal (especially since they sold him for 45m euro).

It's like us and Cannavaro. Are we bringing him back because Juve is a family? No, he's free and we still hope that he'll play good in Italy. We don't have money for a world class CB so we brought back Cannavaro.

So how do you explain Ibrahim Ba? :D

How do you explain them letting players stay on at the club till they rot?

Ibrahim Ba was allowed to do the trainings with the team and he was paid with peanuts (i don't know if he was getting any money at all). I think he played only one match, as a sub, during the entire season, and he wasn't even registered for Europe. He is their scout for Africa (i think together with Desailly) so it was probably part of the plan. Lots of teams have former players in the team staff. Ba wanted to be a player for one more year before he starts working something else.

Maldini shouldn't even be counted. Juve will do the same with Del Piero, Manchester with Giggs, Real with Raul, Inter with Zanetti, and many other teams did the same in the past. The club legend retires in the club, whenever he thinks it's time to retire.

As for the other players...Cafu, Serginho, Dida. Milan tried to get rid of them and their monster wages, but these players didn't want to terminate the contract and they stayed in Milan, mostly not even playing, waiting their contracts to expire.
They say they are a family as an excuse for Galliani's weak transfer dealings.

They make me sick. Just like Barca they pretend to be something more than a football club and people fall for that.

Milan didn't bring back Sheva because of their need to an attacker. They sure hoped he'd find his form in Italy once again but they didn't count on him to be their savior. Sheva wasn't done but no big club would buy him rather than Milan. They really did it because they recognized Sheva as an integral part of their team in the past. But we're bringing back Cannavaro because our board plus many of the fans think that he could solve our problems in defense. Moreover, Canna was our player for two years, why should he be a part of the team's family (if there's any at all)?

Sheva started the first 2-3 matches this season.
Berlusconi wanted a ballon d'or trio in the starting XI. Kaka, Ronaldinho, Sheva.
They brought him back because they are attention whores. Just like that spectacle they created with Ronaldinho when he was introduced to the fans. Only after they realized that Sheva won't be their savior he started warming the bench.

They are such a fake team.

they definitely needed a striker...Borriello was also recalled, Pato was still unproven and Gila had been sold

When Berlusconi stopped giving millions to the team after he used Milan for his political career, and when Milan didn't have money to buy whoever they want and they realized that they can't replace all their aging players with new quality players, they suddenly started using the "we are family" excuse :dielaugh:

Why weren't they a family until 2003-2004 when they were able to buy every player they want? Why did they keep replacing the players every year when they had the money to do that?

They needed but they didn't bring Sheva back for that. Borriello had had an excellent season, Pato had scored a decent amount of goals as a sub in the previous season, they had Pippo and Ronaldinho was going to add to the team.

Even if they brought him as a 4th striker, they didn't do it for the family thing.
If we had 3 strikers and we were offered Shevchenko for free last summer, 99% of the people here would have wanted him. Check last summer's posts and you'll see.

Sheva wasn't that old. Same age as Camo, 2 years younger than Ale. Having Shevchenko in the team, even to rotate him with 3 other strikers, was a privilege.

They should stop selling that "we're family" shit.

And it took them "2-3 first matches" for this conclusion?

Costacurta was a part of the Milan for which Berlusconi was spending millions. Replacing players every year doesn't nullify the fact that they're trying to form a family like of club which is the main reason for their failure IMO. They just can't get rid of their aging players. They had to keep playing their veterans such as Maldini, Costacurta, Albertini even at the times they were out of form. I don't know what's so good about being "a family" when it's the exact meaning of being unprofessional.
