The Inter fans are turning on Jose Mourinho and there are reports crunch talks with President Massimo Moratti could end their time together.
Mourinho was brought in to achieve success in the Champions League, but the second round exit to Manchester United matched Roberto Mancini’s record for the previous two campaigns.
In fact, he oversaw Inter’s worst European run in the last five years, stringing together just two wins, three draws and three defeats.
The Nerazzurri supporters are tired of his constant battles with the Italian media and a banner was hung in the Appiano Gentile training ground this morning:
'Portuguese bluff, get out of Milan.’
Mourinho said after the elimination to United that Inter were “still missing something to succeed in Europe, but I will explain to the club what that is.”
The fans and papers won’t let Mourinho forget that his three signings of the summer have been flops. Ricardo Quaresma was loaned to Chelsea in January, Amantino Mancini barely plays and Sulley Muntari has disappointed.
Now reports in the Spanish media suggest Mourinho is lined up to be the next Real Madrid boss, while in England he has been linked with Manchester City, Liverpool or even a return to Chelsea.
The lead from Juventus in Serie A is still seven points, but considering Mancio won three Scudetti on the trot – two plus the Calciopoli title awarded through the courts – that won’t be enough to justify Mourinho’s salary nor his high-profile media battles.
