Inter fans have mixed feelings over Mancini sacking
Roberto Mancini's sacking as Inter coach and the expected arrival of Jose Mourinho in his place has been met with a mixed reception by the club's fans.
Inter confirmed Mancini's departure on Thursday, 11 days after he led the side to their third consecutive Serie A title. The announcement followed two days of media speculation that Mancini had been dismissed during a short meeting with club president Massimo Moratti.
"Thank heavens. At least something's happening," wrote a fan with the username Alby 72 on the supporters' website forum. "Bye Mancio. Thanks for everything."
Another fan was even more unsentimental amid reports in the Italian sports press that Mourinho will lure Frank Lampard and Ricardo Carvalho from Chelsea, plus Deco and Samuel Eto'o.
"I'm enjoying myself because we are nearer to the announcement of Mourinho's arrival," said a fan with the username Zlatan Dejan.
"I don't care about anything else."
However, some are worried about a return to the chopping and changing of coaches that distinguished Moratti's spell as Inter president before Mancini's arrival in 2004.
"What does this president do once a winning team has been formed after a decade of being the butt of jokes? He dismantles everything," wrote La Gazetta dello Sport reader Samuele Zingaretti.
The statement confirming the sacking cited the announcement Mancini made after March's defeat by Liverpool in the last 16 of the Champions League, when he said he would quit at the end of the season only to change his mind the next day.
