Moratti Blames Matrix
Inter President Massimo Moratti was caught on television blaming Marco Materazzi for the draw with Siena yesterday.
The Nerazzurri could have lifted the Scudetto yesterday had they beaten the Tuscans, but could only manage a 2-2 draw, which means that the title race will go down to the final day of the season.
In the 78th minute Inter had the chance to find the winning goal when they were awarded a controversial penalty. Despite being the team’s third-choice penalty-taker, Marco Materazzi pushed Julio Cruz aside, only to see his shot saved by goalkeeper Alex Manninger.
This angered President Moratti up in the stands, who was seen telling his wife: "Materazzi made us lose the game".
This weekend Inter will have their third and final chance to pick up their second successive championship on the pitch when they travel to Parma.
The Gialloblu, meanwhile, need to win if they are to have any hope of avoiding relegation, and there are rumours that current coach Hector Cuper may be sacked before the game.
The Argentine, who replaced Mimmo Di Carlo in March, has won just two of his 10 games in charge, and it is reported that he has lost the faith of his players and his President Tommaso Ghirardi.
