Kaka on Time 100 influential list
Kaka has been named among Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world and is the only football player in the list.
The Milan hero was included under the category 'Heroes and Pioneers’ along with the likes of Andre Agassi, Lance Armstrong and Oscar Pistorius.
Kaka will be one of the 100 faces on the cover to be released on May 12 and he could not hide his satisfaction.
“When I heard the news I was really moved, because this is a wonderful moment,” he smiled on Milan Channel.
“I consider it a great satisfaction. To be among the 100 most influential people in the world is a remarkable privilege.
“To see my name there in that list along with 99 other personalities of world renown makes me very happy.”
Considering the splash David Beckham made in the States, it is interesting to note Kaka is the only football player on the list.
“It is not easy to make a mark on the American media. They have their own market and their favourite sports. Allowing me, a soccer player, to be part of this list is a great feeling for which I thank God.”
The article on why Kaka deserves to be in Time magazine was written by Kasey Keller, the current Fulham goalkeeper who faced him in the World Cup with the U.S.
It has been quite a year for Kaka, who in the past 12 months won the Champions League, European Super Cup, Club World Cup, Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year award.
“Do I feel as if I am a good communicator? Yes, it is a responsibility that we players have to take on, because today football is the most popular sport in the world.
“Everyone watches and follows the games, so players have a duty and a responsibility to transmit positive values.”
Kaka has said he would like to become a preacher after he retires from the sport.
