too lazy to calculate the complication that game in hand gave us .. for all i know us winning against Parma would make us need just 10 points in 7 games to secure CL and 15 for third ..
I'll do it for you.

If we beat Parma we'll need 3 wins-1 draw-3 defeats in order to be sure of a CL spot.
In other words, we'll need to win 10 out of the possible 21 points and even if Udinese win all their matches, we'll beat them on goal difference.

So, beat Parma and win 10 more points is what we need.
13 points in next 8 matches. (this is in case if Milan and Udinese win all their matches, which won't happen, considering that they even play eachother)

Imo, 10 points in next 8 matches will be enough because Milan, Udinese and Sampdoria will surely drop 2 or 3 points till the end.

If Milan don't make it to the CL , it isn't exactly good for serie A when you think about it . Who would represent Italy ?
Inter sucks .
Roma always end up choking .
Udinesse/Fiorentina are obviously not going too far .
Juve , too early to be competing for CL

This could be bad for Italy's reputation , in recent years , it has always been Milan who went far in that tournament and gave serie A a decent reputation .

Anyone but Jack - Yea, that is how one should look at it, but a lot of dotards don't see it like that. The better Italian teams do, the better the league looks as a whole.
Exactly , a league can't be taken seriously if the teams in it don't perform well against teams of rival leagues . That's how leagues are rated .

But as far as the Italian coefficient goes, Milan playing in CL or UEFA makes no difference at all.
Win brings 2 points both in CL and UEFA, and the draw brings 1 point in both competitions.

I don't agree but i understand those who are worried for serie A reputation, but if we talk about the UEFA rankings, then nothing's changed and there is no reason to worry.
For example, Fiorentina brought more points to Italy than both Milan and Inter this year and thanks to Fiorentina and Roma Italians are still strongly holding the 3rd position which guarantees 4 places in Champions league and 3 places in UEFA Cup.

I was referring more to public opinion than I was to the actual ranking . A team winning in the Uefa cup is not the same as a team winning in the CL as far as public opinion goes . Serie A's reputation was tarnished ever since the calciopoli , winning the WC , and Milan winning the CL have been of huge help to retaining the reputation it once had .

I'm not exactly worried as Milan don't even deserve to play in the CL with the way they are playing now but I admittedly have more faith in Milan than I do in Inter etc....

Yeah, i get what you mean about the reputation but if there is justice then Milan won't play CL while Fiorentina will.

In 2005/06 Fiorentina won the 4th place in serie A which guaranteed them CL qualifications. Then Calciopoli happened and they were denied a CL spot. On the other hand, Milan were also found guilty and they were also denied CL just so the FIGC changed the initial decission and let them play in CL, which they eventually won.

Last year, season 2006/07, Fiorentina got enough points to finish 3rd in serie A and play Champions League, but they were given a -15 pts deduction, while Milan had -8 and Lazio -3 and because of the deduction Fiorentina finished 5th instead of 3rd.

For the 2nd year in a row Fiorentina were screwed up while Milan, who were just as guilty, if not even more, were being helped by the Italian federation.

I expect justice this year and Fiorentina to play in CL because they deserved it while Milan should play UEFA Cup because that's the most they deserve.

I agree , Fiorentina have been treated badly by the FIGC . I wouldn't mind if they made it to the CL this year . I hope they do well , they have a more than decent squad to go far .
