Alen is right here. When Giovinco was taken out, Empoli suddenly stoped attacking and pushing forward, which gave Milan the chance to regain posession and consolidate their defense. IMO Empoli should have really pushed for the 2nd goal as they were dominating, but were very unlucky.

Anyway, I was far from impressed with Milan and they play better away than home matches in practice. Next week Roma will hand Milan's asses to them hopefully.

P.S. Marchisio is great. Why do we waste 20 millions € on flops like Tiago and Almiron when we have a gem in our squad? Do our directors really want to acquire all bad players and give away the good ones?

Empoli - Milan, that second half was so ppor. The two teams looked like Luxembour 2nd division sides.

Anyway, what the hell did the coach take off Giovinco for? Was he playing too well for a game of such low standards?

Marchisio, I thought was good in the first half, but in the second half it seemed like he was playing more as a forward or a very advanced AM, and he was kinda poor. I don't see how you guys say he looked good, although he was better than Nocerino, Tiago and Almiron is/was for us. Anyway, normally he is a lot better than this.

I am still pissed at Empoli taking off their best player so damn early, he was the main reason for watching that game. They deservde to lose for that bullshit.

Okay, explain to me how was he poor?

In the second half he was kinda poor is what I said. He gave away the ball too much in his own half, not many of his forward passes were accurate and committed a lot of fouls. He wasn't terrible, but it was the worst game I've seen from him. He seems to be able to use both feet well though.

i had preferred milan to lose or to draw of course but that's not TOO bad. They are in race against fiorentina now. It will be an open battle between the two for the fourth spot. I just hope we can stay out of that fight. The pressure on both teams will grow, we just have to look that we play OUR games

@ the guy above

It's bad, man. It can't be good when your direct rival wins. Putting pressure on Fiorentina has nothing to do with us.
It would be better if Milan lose all their matches and don't put any pressure on Fiorentina because we don't really care if Fiorentina takes the 3rd position from us as long as we win the 4th place.

Now if we don't win it won't be an open battle between 2 teams but an open battle between 3 teams. If we draw with Genoa then the standings will look like this :

3. Juventus 49 (48 if we lose)
4. Fiorentina 47
5. Milan 46

I really fail too see how Milan winning isn't too bad !?!

Well Malesani was red carded, it was definitely a bad mistake from the assistant coach. After Marchisio hit the bar and Paloschi came in, I knew Milan will pull out something from nowhere. The most annoying thing was Kaka scoring, not that it mattered for the score but it was exactly what he needed to find his form back. Had the game stayed with a 1-1 we would have seen Milan crumble, with this comeback and Kaka's goal I see them coming up in rocket speed.

On the other hand, Fiorentina losing was so sweet. Let's go grab our three points tonight.

Empoli

Bassi – 4.5: Disastrous mistake on Pato’s opener, as he dropped the ball from Oddo’s cross. Looked nervy at times.

Raggi - 6.0: Defensively fine, and made a number of overlapping runs down the right before he was substituted.

Piccolo – 5.5: Was caused a number of problems by Pato’s skill and trickery.

Pratali - 6.0: A gritty display from the Empoli centre-back, who put his body on the line for his team. Shocking open goal miss through at 1-1.

Antonini – 7.0: Impressive down the left-hand side. Made a number of marauding runs, and created Empoli’s temporary equalizer with an excellent cross.

Abate - 8.0: The Italy Under-21 international was the best player on the pitch until he was forced off injured. Milan couldn’t cope with his bursting runs from midfield. One for the future.

Busce – 7.5: A real captain’s performance from Busce. A driving force in midfield, he showed energy, and took his goal well.

Marchisio – 6.5: Quiet in the first half, but livened up after the break, and was desperately unlucky not to score when his brilliant, swerving long-shot crashed off the post.

Budel – 5.5: Not involved in too much of the action. The game seemed to pass him by.

Giovinco – 6.0: Took up some good positions, and executed a series of intelligent passes, but never really exploded into life.

Saudati - 6.0: His build-up play was excellent at times, but he was let down by his finishing too often. Spurned a few good chances to put his side in the lead at 1-1.

Substitutes: Marianini – 6.0, Tosto – 6.0, Giacomazzi – 5.5

AC Milan

Kalac – 6.0: Did not have too many saves to make as most of Empoli’s shots were off-target. Blameless on Busce’s goal.

Oddo – 6.0: A mixed afternoon for Oddo. His cross led to Pato’s goal, however he missed a tackle on Antonini in the build-up to Busce’s temporary equalizer.

Maldini - 6.0: Had a few nervy moments in the first half, but was very impressive after the break.

Kaladze – 6.5: Solid display from the Georgian. Was a reassuring presence at the heart of the Milan defence.

Favalli – 5.0: Was beaten by his man on one too many occasions down the left. The clear weak-point of the Milan team.

Ambrosini – 7.5: Battled well in the centre of midfield and the wet conditions in the second half seemed to suit him. Trademark header to give Milan the lead.

Pirlo – 5.5: One brilliant pass to put Gilardino through in the first half, however it is clear that Pirlo is not in good form at the moment.

Gourcuff – 4.5: Really poor. Gave the ball away repeatedly and was rightfully replaced at half time.

Kaka - 7.5: Struggled for long periods, however he created Milan’s second, scored the third, put a chance on a plate for Gilardino, and also presented Pato with a good opportunity.

Pato – 7.5: A constant bright spark all game. His decision-making is poor and he still needs to mature, this is true, however the Brazilian was involved in every attacking Milan move, scoring the first, and helping create Kaka’s clincher.

Gilardino - 5.0: Showed his lack of confidence by missing two great chances. Was anonymous for the remainder of the game. Really has to move on to another club at the end of the season if he wants to resurrect his career.

Subs: Bonera: 6.0, Brocchi: 5.5; Paloschi 6.0.

Well of course it's not good if milan wins. But today, if i had to choose one of fiorentina and milan to win, i'd have picked milan. Of course it's idiotic if one of our opponents win, to say it's 'good'. I'm just saying that it could have gone worse, gotta be grateful for everything in hard times, u know
