Moratti: Juve Our Real Rivals, Not Milan
Inter President Massimo Moratti says that he considers the Nerazzurri’s main rival to be Juventus, and not Milan.
Inter and Juve have always had a fractious relationship, however things were transported onto another level following the Calciopoli crisis in the summer of 2006.
"Our rivals historically are the Bianconeri of Juve, that’s what tradition says,” Moratti noted.
“For me the real derby is with them: it is the derby d’Italia and it comes first to Milan.”
Inter have been struggling in recent weeks, losing two and drawing two of their last four games.
They face an uphill task to avoid being eliminated from the Champions League, following their 2-0 last 16 first leg defeat to Liverpool.
Moratti believes that even if Inter were to fail to progress, but still go on and win the Scudetto, it would still be a fine campaign for the club.
“If we win the championship, it remains a very positive season,” he explained.
Ahead of the second leg with Liverpool, Moratti also admitted that he still dreams of signing Steven Gerrard, even if he admits that it is unlikely to happen.
“Gerrard remains a dream that is unattainable,” the oil tycoon concluded.
