If Mancini gets fired it is very possible. Afterall he's the only coach who can make Inter win in a tough league and make them challenge seriously for the CL.
Mancini won it last year because of the golden opportunity he had, he won't win it, let's say the next ten years or more. so Forza Mancini for another year or more at Inter!

Lippi already coached Inter and even he couldn´t find the winning formula for them. The only man who was able to make Inter actually good was Hector Cuper and they dumped him after losing the Sscudetto in the last match...... :disagree:

On a plus side, there is no way in the world Lippi would join Inter. Alright, Inter was knocked out of CL by Helsingborg! when the final was at Milan that year, but come on, only a mad man will sack such a good coach after one game into season.

Oh, Lippi was totally right in what he said. Those Inter players needed a good thump on the ass, judging from their result that year.

Would anyone want to join a club that sacked you with one game into season? I find it hard to believe Lippi would contemplate the possibility of joining Inter. Only Italian team he would join is (1) Juve, or (2) Napoli IMO.

Mancini wont get fired. He finally got Inter working after years of shit. Lets not get ahead of ourselves, last year they had a bad start too and then went on a very long winning streak straight after that.

And if they do, I hope we stop them on November the 4th.

Fu*k Inter are currently leading, damn i thought empoli would have a chance of winning with marchisio and giovinco, but neither of them are playing...i dont believe this,i mean, giovinco was really great in their pre season friendlies..And marchisio, well if it wasn't for the arrival of tiago and almiron,i think he would've been in Juve's first team...They're not injured are they..?They still have 20 minutes to equal the scoreline or even win,I hope Empoli could bring in either Giovinco or Marchisio..

well about the Inter game, am sure the interesti will call it a stuff of champions when you don't play well and still win 2-0. To a certain degree it is but different to the past Inter played two absolutely horribly especially last night.

this is the possession stats Time of Possession 51% 49%

i know it means nothing but if empoli had a little more quality they could've equalised as Mancini was introducing defensive player after the other.

Empoli are a very good team and as Jun said before Giovinco is not getting 90mins because hes been put on the bench by a very good player in Vannucchi who almost single handedly took the Inter midfield apart.

Serie A Wrap: Napoli Hit Five, Palermo Four, Juve And Roma Go Top

In a thoroughly exciting afternoon of Serie A football, the second matchday of the season offered plenty of goals as Palermo and Napoli obtained big wins away from home while Juventus and Roma go top of the league after winning again today.

Udinese-Napoli 0-5
After last week's home loss to Cagliari, Napoli bounced back in impressive style, to say the least, as they romped to a 5-0 win at Udinese. In the first half Marcelo Zalayeta opened the score in the 16th minute as he put the ball in after a great run by Ezequiel Lavezzi (16'), before Maurizio Domizzi made it 2-0 just before the break on a corner kick move (41'). The rout continued in the 65th minute, as Lavezzi broke the offside trap and dribbled past Andrea Dossena before beating Antonio Chimenti. Six minutes later, the Udinese defence looked really poor again as a weak cross by Gianluca Grava was missed by all the home team's defenders, allowing Zalayeta to score his second and Napoli's fourth (71'). When Udinese thought it could not get any worse, former Bianconero player Roberto Sosa popped up for a fifth Napoli goal in the 82nd minute.

Livorno-Palermo 2-4

Palermo took home three well-deserved points after a brilliant display at Livorno, who conceded four first-half goals against the Rosanero. In the 9th minute the deadlock was broken as Leandro Rinaudo tapped the ball in after goalkeeper Alfonso De Lucia failed to hold on to a deflected free kick by Fabrizio Miccoli. The latter then made it 2-0 with a direct free kick in the 22nd minute, before even finding a third goal for Palermo after playing a nice one-two with Brazilian striker Amauri (37'). The Italian striker was again involved in the fourth goal as he sent in a free kick which was turned in from close range by Amauri (41'). In the second half, substitute Fausto Rossini reduced the deficit after speeding past Andrea Barzagli (54') just a minute after coming on, and Alessandro Grandoni made the score more bearable for Livorno in the 74th minute after seeing Jose Vidigal's shot hit the post.

Atalanta-Parma 2-0

Atalanta got a straightforward home win over Parma, as Riccardo Zampagna converted a penalty in the 21st minute after a foul by Ferdinand Coly on Antonio Langella, before Mirko Carrozzieri doubled the score in the 65th minute with a header from a set piece.

Cagliari-Juventus 2-3
Juventus obtained a last-minute victory at Cagliari after twice allowing the home side to come back from the spot. David Trezeguet opened the score early in the second half (54') from an assist by Mauro Camoranesi, but Pasquale Foggia equalised instantly as he converted a controversial penalty (56') conceded after Alessandro Matri fell inside the area. Alessandro Del Piero then gave Juve back the lead in the 77th minute, but they were pegged back again by another penalty in he 81st minute, this time a less generous one after Jonathan Zebina fouled Joaquin Larrivey. After both sides were reduced to 10 men following Jonathan Zebina and Cristiano Del Grosso's dismissals, Giorgio Chiellini scored the winner in the 90th minute with a header on a free kick by Camoranesi, the man who provided the assist for all three Juve goals today.

Roma-Siena 3-0

The Giallorossi continued their positive start to the season with a comprehensive win over Siena. Alberto Aquilani opened the score with a great goal from outside the area in the 14th minute, before Ludovic Giuly (82'), on an assist by Aquilani, and Francesco Totti (89'), with a brilliant individual move as he progressed inside the area before right-footing the ball past Manninger, closed the match with two late goals. They now go top of the table with Juve as they both have 6 points.

Torino-Reggina 2-2

An entertaining match in Turin, which saw the debut of Alvaro Recoba in a Torino shirt, finished in a 2-2 draw between Torino and Reggina. Nicola Amoruso opened the score on the half hour mark (31') for Reggina as he was left all alone inside the area, before Alessandro Rosina equalised just before the break after slaloming past two defenders. The home side took the lead through Nicola Ventola in the second half (59') after a nice move involving Recoba and Salvatore Lanna, but in the 90th minute Francesco Cozza broke the home side's hearts as he profited from a rare indirect free kick from inside the area.

Finally, Catania-Genoa finished goalless. The game had very few chances for either side and a draw was the deserved result.

Ancelotti fears Fiorentina

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carlo Ancelotti has no intention of fielding a weakened squad against Fiorentina just days after their European Super Cup win.

“I am not going to rotate the squad. I am focusing on the same XI that played in Montecarlo, including Gennaro Gattuso. Despite the stitches for that cut over his eye, he is doing fine.”

Milan won the trophy for a record fifth time on Friday evening, beating Sevilla 3-1 with goals from Pippo Inzaghi, Marek Jankulovski and Kaka.

For that reason this Serie A Week 2 clash with the Viola was postponed until Monday at 17.00 UK time, but that doesn’t mean Ancelotti is taking it any less seriously.

“Fiorentina are a side with a tactical system and off the ball movement that is ingrained by now and some talented young players. They have always notched up a lot of points in recent years. I won’t say this is a head-to-head Scudetto battle, but it’s pretty close.”

Another reason for the lack of changes is the injury situation, as Ronaldo is still out of action despite his dramatic weight loss thanks to new thyroid pills.

“We don’t want to play Ronaldo until he is in normal shape. He still has a few twinges and we take that into account. One has to have the patience to wait,” added the Coach.

“Our intentions are to play him in Thursday’s friendly at Dynamo Kiev along with Alexandre Pato. We’ll evaluate his condition, otherwise I think Ronie can happily return after the break for international duty.”

That Ukrainian trip will be Pato’s first ever appearance in a Milan jersey. Although he was signed in the summer, the Brazilian starlet could not legally play for the club until he turned 18.

Pato celebrated his birthday on Sunday, even if he won’t be eligible for official competition until the transfer window re-opens in January 2008.

Milan squad: Dida, Kalac; Bonera, Cafu, Favalli, Jankulovski, Kaladze, Nesta, Oddo; Ambrosini, Brocchi, Emerson, Gattuso, Gourcuff, Kaka, Pirlo, Seedorf; Gilardino, Inzaghi

Prandelli storms San Siro

Cesare Prandelli urged Fiorentina to fight European champions Milan for every ball if they are to get a positive result at San Siro this evening.

Their Serie A Week 2 match was put back until 17.00 UK time because the Rossoneri were in Montecarlo on Friday for the European Super Cup win over Sevilla.

“We are going to the home of the European champions who we saw play a great game on Friday,” warned Prandelli.

“We must fight them for every ball, counter their every move, as this is the only way to even hope of getting a result there. If we sit back and invite them forward, we run far too many risks.”

It is a challenge for the top of the table, as after two rounds only Juventus and Roma still have a 100 per cent record. Both Milan and Fiorentina have the opportunity to be the third club in that leading group.

“This will also be a useful test to see just what my team can do this season. In time we will aim for the Scudetto, but that is not necessarily our target right now.

“I don’t think that Milan will be physically drained from playing on Friday. If anything, they have the psychological advantage of that victory.”

Fiorentina make the trip to Lombardy without Riccardo Montolivo, who scored a sensational goal last week against Empoli, due to a muscular injury.

Franco Semioli is back in the side, but Mario Alberto Santana is expected to start in a 4-3-3 system alongside Giampaolo Pazzini and Adrian Mutu.

Alberto Gilardino could start for Milan against Prandelli, the man who launched his career at Parma.

“I don’t want to send a message out, as every time I compliment one of my former players they score against me!”

The Viola are back in the UEFA Cup this term and were drawn against Dutch side Groningen, but ex-Arsenal starlet Arturo Lupoli was left out of the squad for this competition.

“Unfortunately I only had 22 slots at my disposal and we had to exclude a few others as well. Arturo needs to work to improve every aspect and he will become a great player,” explained the tactician.

“We could have had a little more luck with the draw. Groningen are a good side who know how to play football and are very organised tactically.”

Fiorentina squad: Avramov, Dainelli, Donadel, Frey, Gamberini, Gobbi, Kroldrup, Kuzmanovic, Liverani, Lupatelli, Lupoli, Mutu, Osvaldo, Pasqual, Pazzini, Potenza, Santana, Semioli, Ujfalusi, Vanden Borre, Vieri.
