Lazio 2 Roma 3 - a pulsating derby match...Roma once again showing they have what it takes to go all the way...fantastic performance by Mancini and Perrotta and if it wasnt for the mangnificent Ballotta it could have been a rout...Rocchi and Pandev tried all night but Mexes and Juan were immense at the back for Roma...great match

Inter Mash Genoa To Maintain Lead

Inter 4 - 1 Genoa

Convincing win for the Nerazzuri who sealed the score in the second half thanks to an excellent performance by David Suazo.

Roberto Mancini opted to rest two key players for this clash, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Walter Samuel, and in the end the Inter coach made the right decision ahead of Saturday night's encounter against Juventus.

Inter showed their superiority from the first minutes when a shot from the edge of the penalty area by Maicon was brilliantly saved into a corner kick by Rubinho. However, from the following corner, Cordoba managed to slot the ball in after the ball had rebounded on the crossbar to put the Nerazzurri ahead after just 8 minutes of play.

Genoa reacted and in the 22nd minute Leon could have equalized for the Grifoni, but third choice goalkeeper Orlandoni made an important save.

The home team seemed to play too relaxed and the Rossoblu took advantage of this moment to push forward. In the 28th minute Fabiano received a ball all alone inside the penalty area, but Orlandoni made a great instinct save.

This danger woke Inter up as three minutes later a Crespo header was well saved by Rubinho. In the 40th minute it was once again Genoa that went close to score, but Figo managed to save on the line what could have been an own goal by Cordoba.

In the second half the Nerazzurri seemed more concentrated and after just 5 minutes doubles the score thanks to Cambiasso. The Argentinean midfielder took full advantage of a mistake by the Genoa keeper who did not hold on to a free kick by Chivu and Cambiasso scored from the rebound.

In the space of three minutes, between the 56th and 58th minute, Inter managed to miss two incredible sitters with Crespo and Cesar as Genoa were going forward in an attempt to pull one back.

In the 69th minute, Crespo once again missed another important opportunity to seal the result in favour of Inter and this mistake was punished by a Genoa goal in the 73rd minute when Konko re-opened the encounter following a nice move with Figureoa.

However, the Grifoni's hopes were washed away a minute later when Suazo closed the encounter when he took advantage of a bad back pass by De Rosa and the Nerazzurri's forward lobbed the ball over Rubinho.

It was not over yet as Suazo won a penalty 3 minutes from time and Cruz converted from the spot to make it 4-1 for Inter.

This was the best possible result and performance for the Nerazzurri ahead of this weekend's super clash against rivals Juventus. It will need a very solid Old Lady in order to stop this Inter.

For Genoa this is a heavy defeat which should not discourage the Grifoni considering all the good things shown so far this season.

STARTING LINE-UPS:

INTER (4-4-2): Orlandoni; Maicon, Cordoba, Chivu, Maxwell; Zanetti, Cambiasso, Cesar, Figo; Crespo, Cruz

GENOA (3-5-2): Rubinho; Bega, De Rosa, Lucarelli; Fabiano, Danilo, Milanetto, Leon, Konko, Rossi, Borriello

I've only seen one Parma match thus far this season.

Does anybody know how Daniele Dessena and Luca Cigarini are doing? Those two kids have loads of talent.

Serie A Team Of The Week: Round 10

Team of the week (4-3-3):

Sebastien Frey (Fiorentina): Incredible saves by the Viola goalkeeper which denied Napoli from what would have probably been a deserved equalizer.

Ivan Cordoba (Inter): Always a certainty in defence. Also scored the Nerazzurri's opening goal like a true striker.

Christian Chivu (Inter): Was brilliant in defence, finding back his best performances like during the Roma days. Will prove vital for Inter this season.

Fabio Galante (Livorno): It’s also thanks to him that Livorno managed to secure its first win of the season. Despite his age, still doing his job very well.

Giandomenico Mesto (Udinese): Ran up and down the wing; dangerous when going forward and always reliable when defending.

Simone Perrotta (Roma): Quantity and also a lot of quality from the Giallorossi’s midfielder who sealed the derby win in favour of his team with Roma's third goal of the night.

Cristian Ledesma (Lazio): Was the Biancocelesti’s best player on the field and also scored the second goal for Lazio which re-opened the derby game. Rossi can build the next games around him.

Clarence Seedorf (Milan): So much quality and beautiful football from the Dutch midfielder, including a goal and an assist.

David Suazo (Inter): Back to his best as he scored his first official goal in Serie A with Inter and won the penalty which Cruz scored.

David Trezeguet (Juventus): If there was a definition in the dictionary for a goal scoring machine, it would be under the title Trezegol.

Alberto Gilardino (Milan): Returning to his goal scoring days just in time to rescue the Rossoneri from this terrible period. With more consistency he can become Italy’s best striker.

Honourable Mention

Ciro Polito (Catania)
Alessandro Nesta (Milan)
Massimo Paci (Parma)
Mancini (Roma)
Cristiano Doni (Atalanta)
Adrian Mutu (Fiorentina)
Mirko Vucinic (Roma)
