Strange match. Palermo held most of the possession, and Samp could barely muster anything threatening. Palermo kept pouring in the dangerous free kicks that Samp continued to surrender, and rain poured for much of the second half, but Antonioli for the most part had a really good game.
Something told me this match was going to end in controversy in favor of Samp, because they kept hanging in and seemed primed for a surprise break to change the fortunes of the game. It came in the form of a shot in traffic near the goal by Flacchi (it seemed that he spent most of the evening backheeling the ball when he had it). He was well marked by Grosso, but his wild kick towards goal came up and unintentionally hit Grosso in the arms -- resulting in a penalty kick that Flacchi converted for the winner.

Chiesa has to top my "comeback" player of the year voting thus far this season. A fine and well-deserved victory for him and his Siena teamates over Milan today. When Crespo put them up 1-0, I expected there to be a bit of fight left in Siena to at least equalize (particularly given Milan's post-CL fatigue and competitive let-down to face a relegation-battling squad). What I didn't expect was the go-ahead goal by Cozza on a counter-attack.
Credit to Siena for their 2-1 victory ... Milan gave them a good match, but also looked about as motivated as we did against Liverpool. Of course, if you're going to pick your tournament of motivation, Juve made the wrong choice. But I'll take this. We're going to need this small cushion, as I'm sure we'll burn it up very soon in the coming matches against Inter, Lazio, and soon Milan.

Milan doc denies nude claims
AC Milan's team doctor pleaded not guilty on Monday to indecently exposing himself to a woman eight weeks ago on the eve of a Champions League game against Manchester United.
Armando Gozzini, 44, was not present when his lawyer, Mike Brunskill, entered the not guilty plea in Salford Magistrates Court.
The case was adjourned until May 31 when Gozzini is expected to appear to testify in a jury trial.
Gozzini was arrested on February 23 at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester following allegations that he had exposed himself to a female staff member of the hotel.

Btw, Chelsea's Carlo Cudicini used to play for Castel di Sangro. Osvaldo Jaconi ended up later coaching Livorno to Serie B (now A of course) before he got sacked...
