Conti has Martins concern Saturday 11 June, 2005

Bruno Conti has warned that Oba Martins could be the danger man in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia Final, though the Roma boss had a surprise guest at his Press conference.
“I wish to present our new signing to you all,” smiled the Coach at the Trigoria training ground. “He is young, has a good right foot, but needs to work on his left.” The ‘new addition’ was Diego Armando Maradona, who flew in to Italy this week for Ciro Ferrara’s testimonial.
“In 1982 Conti starred in a World Cup squad that made everyone dream,” replied the Argentine legend. “He is a great person and I am happy to be here with him. I also wish to thank Francesco Totti, Antonio Cassano, Leandro Cufre and all the other Roma players who have done charity work for children.”
The Giallorossi may have been in jovial mood with Maradona’s visit, but they are keeping focused on Sunday’s first leg of the Coppa Italia Final against Inter. Adriano has returned from Brazil and is expected to start, but Conti eyes another danger man.
“We will find an Inter side that is motivated and must keep a special eye out for Martins. The Nigerian really suits Adriano’s style and together they form a truly dangerous partnership.”
Roma are the underdogs going into this clash, although the number of Nerazzurri stars out because of international duty and injury boost their chances. Philippe Mexes and Christian Panucci have recovered, though Alberto Aquilani is sidelined.
“We have worked hard to be ready for this double challenge and we’ll give everything we’ve got to win this trophy,” assured the Coach. “I saw Vincenzo Montella and Cassano looking particularly sharp in training, so I am confident.”
Roma completed the signing of Shabani Christophe Nonda yesterday evening, as he was out of contract with Monaco and has penned a three-year deal.
“I am very happy to have joined Roma, a great club with world class players,” said the Congolese striker on the official website. “I consider this city to be the capital of the world in terms of history and culture, while the fans are extraordinary. I must thank the Sensi family and the directors for believing in my potential and giving me even greater motivation to come here.”
