Will Totti play or he is banned???
Banned juz becos he talk too much? Wad kind of logic is this? Even though I hate Totti I have to admit, but this time he has been given the wrong sentence. It is really unfair to him.

Coppa: Milan undone in Udine Wednesday 16 March, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Rossoneri are out of the Coppa Italia following a crushing 4-1 defeat against on-form Udinese.

Milan had a slender 3-2 lead to protect from the first leg and travelled to the Stadio Friuli without the injured Paolo Maldini, Alessandro Nesta and Andriy Shevchenko.

Udinese needed a win to qualify and it was almost gifted to them after nine minutes, as Christian Abbiati’s clearance went straight to Antonio Di Natale, but the goalkeeper made up for his error by fingertipping the chip round the post.

The opening goal arrived soon after, as Gianpiero Pinzi threaded through for Vincenzo Iaquinta to sweep into the far corner of the net.

With two defenders already out of action, Milan also lost Jaap Stam during the first half with a slight calf problem, but the medical staff assured he would be fit for Sunday’s Serie A trip to Roma.

Clarence Seedorf came on for the second period and immediately brought a tough save out of Morgan De Sanctis from distance, while Christian Brocchi drilled just wide.

Jon Dahl Tomasson’s shot was only parried into the path of Brocchi and the midfielder’s lob was off target.

However, it was Udinese who doubled their lead on the hour mark when Stefano Mauri thumped in Marek Jankulovski’s low cross with a powerful and precise left-foot drive into the top corner.

Substitute David Di Michele struck the side-netting from a promising position soon after and Abbiati was at full stretch to tip his lob over the bar.

Pippo Inzaghi hit the back of the net, but it was disallowed for an offside position, but Milan did get back into the running when De Sanctis rushed off his line to clear from Inzaghi, only for the ball to reach Tomasson.

That didn’t last for long, as Udinese restored their two-goal cushion moments later when Kakha Kaladze brought down David Pizarro and Di Michele converted the penalty.

The Rossoneri ended their campaign in 10 men as Vikash Dhorasoo limped off during the final minutes when all the substitutions had been completed.

Just as the visitors were piling on the pressure in a desperate bid to reduce the gap, Udinese put the tie beyond doubt with Mauri’s second of the game. Another Abbiati howler allowed Di Michele to set up his teammate from close range.

Udinese 4-1 Milan

Scorers: Iaquinta 20 (U), Mauri 60, 94 (U), Tomasson 77 (M), Di Michele pen 79 (U)

Cosmi: Genoa targeting Europe Wednesday 16 March, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Serse Cosmi, boss of Serie B leaders Genoa, believes his side will be battling for a place in Europe next season.

The port club are back on the promotion trail following their 3-1 win over Arezzo, but Cosmi believes that President Enrico Preziosi will guarantee an even brighter future.

"Preziosi is a President who reminds me of (Palermo chief) Maurizio Zamparini," the former Perugia Coach told the Corriere dello Sport.

"He won’t limit himself to just taking us back into Serie A, he’s looking to get us back into Europe.

"Genoa deserve an owner like him because it has been tough for this club to be outside of the top-flight for 10 years."

The Stadio Marassi outfit are enjoying a splendid season, also thanks to the goals of Diego Milito.

"He won’t be leaving us at the end of the campaign," underlined Cosmi. "It is only normal that clubs are after him.

"But if we win promotion then he could have another season with us to confirm himself as a quality player."

The Argentine is the Second Division top scorer thanks to his 16 goals and Cosmi doesn’t want to lose him.

"Preziosi knows what I think," he added. "If he sells the Argentine then I’ll break one of his legs!"
:D let them get to serie A first

De Rossi sent off again?!
A true Romanista huh? :D

and would you look at the form Udinese are in!
I still refuse to believe that match against palermo existed

Situation on top in Serie A is just so damn tight. We MUST win every game, cant afford to be 3 points behind Milan :frown: I'm sure they're a bit sad to be out of Coppa, but perhaps that'll give them more focus in CL and Serie A now.

After a spell of bad results, Christian Obodo is confident that Fiorentina have turned the corner as they prepare to face third-placed Inter Milan on Sunday at the San Siro.

"We are back to our normal game," Obodo told KICK OFF. "We will give Inter a good game, a very strong game because we are not prepared to lose in Milan."

Although Obodo admitted that it would be a difficult game, he insisted that Fiorentina would not be over-awed.

"Nobody goes to battle to lose. We are not going to Inter to lose. We need at least a point from there and we shall be playing to get more."

Compatriot Obafemi Martins will likely be in the game at some point, but Obodo says friendship will be on the back burner as soon as the whistle goes.

"Martins is my friend, but we both have a job to do, and I am going to be doing mine as best as I can and I expect that he will be doing the same. I root for him when he is playing against other teams, but against us, I have to stop him from scoring."

Obodo also had some good words for new striking sensation Ayo Makinwa.

"Ayo has turned Atalanta around," Obodo enthused. "And it is not just about the goals he has scored. It’s his general play, the way he brings his team mates into the game and the way he fights for ninety minutes. I am very impressed with him. The way he is going, he will be one of the best strikers in the world soon."
