how long ago was it that we had such a good start to a season? 22 from 8 in Serie A, and 9 from 3 in CL :thumb:

I smell success this season, but I won't get ahead of myself
we always get to the finals and lose them and we never win CL together with scudetto in one season. it'd be jolly good if that changes this season.

anyhow, we're ahead. YES! one obstacle out (roma)

Serie A Preview: Round 9

Serie A football returns for the third match day in the space of 7 days with many interesting encounters to fill the weekend for Italian football enthusiasts.
The match of the day is definitely the one taking place at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium where Inter host Lazio. Milan face a delicate away tie to Sampdoria while league leaders Juventus host Chievo. Let’s take a better look at all the weekend games:

FIORENTINA-LECCE

At the Artemio Franchi of Florence, the home side will have a difficult test when they play third-placed Lecce. Fiorentina have finally achieved their first away win of the season which will inject confidence in the viola players. However Lecce have proven over and over again that they are a strong team and can play and defeat any team on their best day.

Prediction: X

INTER-LAZIO

Inter will be looking for the three points after Massimo Moratti expressed his anger at the squad’s lack of victories during this early part of the season, which has brought the nerazzurri just two wins from eight matches played so far. Mancini’s squad cannot afford to lose further ground if they still want to maintain their title hopes open. A further setback would be probably too much to handle, even if it’s still very early. Mancio will be doing so against his former squad, Lazio, who will definitely be trying to prove to their former mentor that even without him they can still achieve good results like Wednesday’s 2-0 home win against Messina. This encounter will definitely characterize the whole weekend.

Prediction: 1

JUVENTUS-CHIEVO

League leaders Juventus play their second consecutive home game at the Delle Alpi of Turin in a bid to hold or even increase their lead at the top considering Milan’s tough away game to Sampdoria. The bianconeri’s impressive start to the season is no secret to anyone and Capello will be hoping to maintain this rhythm for as long as possible. The Chievo match in fact seems ideal to extend this positive run as the flying donkeys have lost a bit of flair in these past two games which might eventually push them down the standings.

Prediction: 1

LIVORNO-BRESCIA

Direct relegation encounter between Livorno and Brescia at the Armando Picchi stadium, with both sides looking for a win to stir away from the danger zone. Up till a week ago, Livorno seemed like the primary target to go down to Serie B, but two consecutive wins have catapulted them away from last place and will now have more confidence when facing the rondinelle. On the other hand Brescia have been inconsistent, by winning difficult away ties but then losing home games which should have been up to their standard on paper.

Prediction: X

MESSINA-REGGINA

Messina have fallen back in the positions due to three consecutive defeats and will therefore try to get back on track as they host Reggina at the Giovanni Celeste stadium. Another defeat would definitely mean that Messina’s bubble has burst and will be fighting for the remainder of the season in the relegation battle. Reggina are already there and cannot afford another defeat if they want to stay ahead of the relegation group. Another defeat might mean Arrigoni losing his job.

Prediction: 1

PARMA-ATALANTA

Another relegation battle, this time between Parma and Atalanta at the Ennio Tardini stadium. The gialloblu have improved in recent weeks and even obtained their first win of the season so this match will be an excellent chance for the Emiliani to climb further up in the league placing. Atalanta have played good football this season thanks to good young technical players, however their inexperience has more than once proven fatal in their games. Unless they soon start sorting out this problem, the Bergamaschi might make a swift return to Serie B football.

Prediction: 1

ROMA-CAGLIARI

The giallorossi suffered another defeat on Thursday night, this time at the hands of Juventus, and will try to avenge this loss against fourth-placed Cagliari. The rossoblu have been doing well this season, especially at home, therefore this away match might be tough for Zola’s team to obtain any points. Roma needs to win to climb back up as they currently lie in the lower regions of the league standings and cannot lose more points.

Prediction: 1

SAMPDORIA-MILAN

Another important match is that between Sampdoria and Milan at the Luigi Ferraris stadium of Genoa. This match will not be easy at all for the rossoneri as the blucerchiati are in-form with 4 wins in the last 5 matches played and are currently level points with Inter. Another win would consolidate their Uefa Cup placing aspirations. Milan on the other hand, do not want to lose further points from Juventus and a win would help them to maintain second place and at least stay within 5 points reach of Juventus.

Prediction: X2

SIENA-BOLOGNA

Siena and Bologna spar against each other at the Artemio Franchi stadium as both teams need a win to move away from the relegation zone. The teams look very balanced with the rossoblu maybe having a more technical side against Siena’s low-scoring attack line. A draw seems the most likely outcome.

Prediction: X

UDINESE-PALERMO

At the Friuli on Sunday night, Udinese and Palermo will be playing against each other in a match between two mid-table teams who have Uefa Cup placing aspirations. A win would help that team consolidate their chances while a defeat would mean that they would have to look behind them as the relegation zone gets closer.

Prediction: X

even now,i wouldn't say that juve will win the league if we stay injury free.still a tad too early imo.a five point lead can be easily made up given a unfavourable set of circumstances.

Sheva just came on, so Milan is thinking they may need to get serious about scoring soon.

THis would be a perfect, opportune time for Diana to break through. :D
