    Papa confirms Lazio exit
    Thursday 2 June, 2005

Lazio boss Giuseppe Papadopulo has revealed that he will leave the club after talks over an extension stalled.

The tactician was hoping to remain with the capital outfit but has today confirmed his departure.

"Giuseppe Papadopulo would like to communicate that negotiations with SS Lazio over an extension haven’t ended positively," read a statement.

"Therefore, his relationship with the Biancocelesti club will terminate on 30 June 2005.

"Giuseppe Papadopulo would like to thank President Claudio Lotito for his faith and belief, the players and all the staff for their hard work.

"He would also like to thank the magnificent fans who never gave up on supporting the team during the difficult times which were faced and surpassed."

It’s now unclear who will take over after Lotito yesterday dismissed suggestions that Giovanni Trapattoni would be handed the job.

Possible candidates include former Torino and Reggina boss Giancarlo Camolese, plus possibly Zdenek Zeman of Lecce.

Delio Rossi, who left Atalanta last week, and Empoli tactician Mario Somma are other possibilities.

Lotito has now gone through two coaches in less than a year in charge, after he sacked Mimmo Caso in December.

    Boss Zeman quits Lecce
    Thursday 2 June, 2005

Lecce and boss Zdenek Zeman have today decided to go their separate ways despite their Serie A survival.

The Czech ace met with President Enrico Semeraro this morning but it was decided that his contract, which expires at the end of this month, wouldn’t be renewed.

Zeman was expected to leave the Via Del Mare outfit after he was linked with a host of top-flight clubs recently.

Although a move to Palermo has fallen through, the 4-3-3 tactician is still being associated with the likes of Roma, Lazio, Genoa and Cagliari.

Lecce could now make a move for Delio Rossi, who Zeman replaced last summer, or current Cagliari Coach Daniele Arrigoni.

Giuseppe Papadopulo may also be an option after he confirmed that he would be leaving Lazio this morning.

There goes the most exciting team in Serie A

I love how the top goalscorers in Serie A were all Italian :thumb:

    Lucarelli 24
    Gilardino 23
    Montella 21
    Toni 20

(Okay, maybe I cheated a little bit by not including Vucinic who was level with Toni :p)

Compare that to the likes of England, Spain and Germany

    Delneri Takes Over At Palermo
    5/31/2005 5:57:00 PM
The former Roma coach has been announced as the new coach of the Rosanero.
President Maurizio Zamparini had promised that he would announce the new Palermo coach by Tuesday, and so it was. In fact Luigi Delneri has been officially announced as the coach of the Sicilian side which will be competing in the Uefa Cup following an exceptional season in their first year back in Serie A.

Zamparini was extremely happy with the choice and commented positively about the new arrival.

“We closed the deal in the afternoon. I’m happy: I lose a good coach but I found another one.”

Delneri, who signed a two year deal at 800k Euros per season, replaces the departing Francesco Guidolin after fighting off the competition of Zdenek Zeman and Alberto Zaccheroni.

Good that Del Neri is going to Palermo, I can't wait for more surprises under Del Neri. Frankly speaking, I'm starting to like Palermo.

Good news for Palermo. I really hope they climb over Roma in the league next year too so that Roma will understand what coach they lost.
Palermo for the CL next year.

You could just argue, it is easier to score in Italy, I am not saying that, but it can be argued that way...

Owen part of Adriano swoop? Saturday 4 June, 2005

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adriano has only pledged the next year of his career to Inter and that could spark a massive player swap that includes Walter Samuel and Michael Owen.

“Next season I will definitely be wearing the Nerazzurri jersey,” he told TV Record, “but if we don’t win anything then I will ask to be sold after the 2006 World Cup.”

This is a crucial statement from the Brazilian, who is increasingly frustrated with the lack of silverware at the San Siro. Inter have won just one UEFA Cup since 1994-95, though they have the chance to take the Coppa Italia in June’s Final against Roma.

“A player needs to win important things in his career,” added the former Parma and Fiorentina star. “I’ll ask to join a club where I can finally become a Champion.”

Adriano is set to be the hottest property on the transfer market amid reports of a bidding war between Chelsea and Real Madrid with the price-tag rocketing to £65m.

According to the Corriere dello Sport-Stadio, Inter are not going to sit through another bitter split like the one that saw Ronaldo join Real after the 2002 World Cup, so they’ll take action now.

It’s reported that Real Madrid would be the preferred destination, because the Spaniards are willing to hand over Walter Samuel, Luis Figo, Santiago Solari and Michael Owen in exchange for the 23-year-old striker.

These players would resolve many of Coach Roberto Mancini’s tactical issues in one fell swoop, while patron Massimo Moratti has long been a fan of the former Liverpool forward.
