Hamas bans women from smoking water pipes in cafes

    (AP) – 7 hours ago

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Gaza's Hamas rulers are banning women from smoking water pipes in cafes, claiming it violates tradition and leads to divorce.

Plainclothes security officials handed out the ban order to Gaza City cafes over the weekend.

Police spokesman Ayman Batneiji said Sunday that officers are enforcing Gazan traditions. He said husbands often divorce women seen smoking in public but offered no evidence to support that claim.

The pipes are popular with both men and women in Gaza.

Since seizing control of Gaza in 2007, the Islamic Hamas has been trying to impose its strict interpretation of Islam on residents. Schoolgirls, for example, have been ordered to wear modest attire and male hair stylists are banned from women's salons.

All this nonsense is nothing but an affront against Allah's creation. If Allah created beautiful women, then he must have wanted them to be seen. What these "laws" do probably piss Him off to high heaven. No pun intended.

I was just asking man ;)

As to the rest of what you said

Just more stupidity against women. Carry on.
They could just chain them, give thim a little food every once in a while and use them as their sex slaves.
It's not practical. Who's gonna do the laundry and prepare food?
Hmm.. good point. Another thing is that they'd have to look good somehow, so they would need to get out from time to time I suppose.
All this over-reacting for banning woman from smoking in public places? Almost in all of Europe now both men and woman are banned from doing just that, so take it from this prespective, it's only half the step towards a full ban ;)

Besides, isn't a democratic country consedering banning wearing the burqa despite it being a violation to the womans freedom of choice? Oh wait, that's in Europe let's just keep talking shit about the middle east instead.

    Overreacting?

This fucking deserves an overreaction and the Europe case you bring regarding smoking is hilarious and would have made sense if Europe forbids the Arabs or the Chinese from smoking in public places but lets the others smoke.

Though I'm with banning burqa everywhere around the world, you make a good point there I must say.

Argileh should be banned all over the world. I'm personally with Hamas on this. :agree: Lets force the smokers to suffer:agree:

And this case would be equal to forbidding smoking in public places, not forbidding onlt the women from smoking in public places. I, as a non-Muslim male will also be forbidden wearing the burqa. Hey, it might be my freedom of choice to wear a burqa, get inside the ladies room or inside a bank and rob it, but they won't let me do it. You see, they won't let me wear it too, not just the women.
