what can i do? i mean, i dont run a powerfull country......
Nobody runs a powerful country, that's the problem. Downside to democracies is that everybody has a say in what to do. Parliament, Senate, President, Prime Minister, blahblahblah

Takes ages.

As for you; you could protest.

Yeah, I can't believe the world is not helping to wipe off Hizballah.
Hizballah, sure they are bad, but what isreal are doing is much worse, its like me as a juve fan criticising a milan fan for the involvement in the calciolopoli scandal, i read recently that isreal has the fourth largest army in the world, now for a country that small, that strikes me as very disturbing, and there is a lot of bad stuff happening that most people have no idea about

They're surrounded by people and countries that want them dead, of course they're going to have a big army.

Personally, I think the dodginess of the moment is that nobody in the Israeli government is talking about the hostages anymore. Suddenly it's about Hizballah (spelling) and how Lebanon has to eliminate them if they want a cease-fire.

Was the kidnap-motive a smoke screen?

Sky news is one of the most biased news channels out there, they are owned by an israeli.. I say no more. If you want the facts that I have already stated them in the pathetic democracy thread, I dont see the point of explaining again.

Yes it was a smoke screen. in fact, Israel kidnapped its own soldiers and killed the 20 citizens already itself. And the U.S too has blown up the Twin Towers in purpose just so they have an excuse too. It's all a smoke screen. The jews actually went in the gas chambers in purpose so that they can have an excuse for estbalishing their country later too. All smoke screens. Like The Scorpions say : "When the smoke is going down..."

Bush gave it away in his press conference at the G8 summit. He said:

"The best way to end the violence is for Hezballah to lay down its arms"

what he should have said was:

"The best way to end the violence is for the hostages to be released"

What a dumb b*stard :D

It was the explosive, but not the cause. Did the World fight for 4 years between 1914 and 1918 just because some Austrian prince was assassinated in Sarajevo?

Sky News just like any british news is biased against Israel obviously. this is a poll though so it has nothing to do with their policy.

I said smokescreen, not conspiracy theory. Sure the soldiers were kidnapped, but perhaps someone in the Israeli government realised the extraordinary convient opportunity handed to them there...

What guarantee Israel has that tomorrow Hizballah won't try to kidnap more hostages ? Indeed for this conflict to be over, it will be best if Hizballah quits altogether. But Israel will quit its current attack if the soldiers are returned no doubt, nonetheless.

I love that forest-fire theory (ie one small spark = huge fire if the circumstances are right (dry weather etc). It's fascinating.
