No marriage is a legal contract, thats why you sign a contract, a Marriage ceremony is a religious concept. The difference is being married in the eyes or your lord and being married in the eyes of the law. religion demands both. Forcing gay people to be civil partnered as opposed to married is demeaning.
The actual act of creating kinship between two people predates the legal aspect of marriage, however, I specifically meant it in a churches discression kind of way if you get my point.

no it aint it a pre-requisite that it fulfills both conditions legal and religious, gay-marriage goes against the latter and so they should be happy with civil partnerships, ur comment somes up why gays are knobs in general, you want the entire fucking pie.
It is socially devolved to be homophobic, go back 2000 years and homosexuality was considered natural, its religions that are vehemently opposed to it. I dont see why you are opposed to equal rights, do you have a chip on your shoulder? are you secretly gay and havent come to terms with it yet? do you want to  do you want a hug? I hope you come to terms with who you are and stop projecting your problems on other people. Heres hoping :xfinger:

How rich is the Vatican anyway?

I know they don't have to publish accoutns but someobody must know something.
Depends on how you count these things - there's a genuine fortune in rare marble, metals and woods in the actual buildings, a more or less priceless collection of art and old documents and a central location in Rome, so there's a fairly huge amount of capital there. The actual operating budget is fairly reasonable though for its size - a couple of hundred million per year, comparable to a university.

I've heard their holdings are between 200million and 5 billion but nobody knows re: the vatican bank.

Statistics should be made to see how much deaths the British Government/ British Empire caused. I'm willing to bet its ten fold the amount of deaths attributed to the Catholic Church.

How many people have died/have aids in african countries?

and dont blame me for the british empire or bring it into the conversation as if to make me look like a hypocrite, it was stupid, horrible and nothing to do with me.

It is not double standards for me i in no way support the empire, the same way i dont support the catholic church.

You may have misunderstood me, i was not blaming you at all for what the british empire did. The post wasn't even directed at you, my point was, if we're going to go debating how evil the catholic church is, we may as well do the same for the British Empire. Seems only fair to me.

So if you were a lawyer representing a suspect, your strategy would be to appeal to the court that all other suspects be put on trial too?

This is starting to get a little tedious, you know. You made your point, we get it. If you're interested in the crimes of other organizations why don't you start a thread about it?

Shall we bring in the Romans, Ottomans, Nazis, Soviets, Iranians, Pakistanis, Liberians etc.etc. while we are at it?

We are discussing religion, not states. Bring in Islam, Judaism, Paganism if you want.

Sorry if i mistook you at first, i dont think i have now, but it seems whenever i discuss something on here, someone brings up the empire and expects me to justify it. Does my head in.

More interesting, why don't you start a thread about it, if its the crimes that mattered to you? Or maybe you guys don't really care about the crimes/ deaths and all that, maybe all you care about is getting one against religion.
