I was really impressed with Fry's speech - it was as reasoned and polished as I expected from him, but dignified and honest too.

Singling out the catholic church is unfair. It's the weak minded people that seek sollace in organised religion that have allowed the church to do these things.

You can't blame the all powerful for becoming corrupt if nobody does anything about it. With a support base they'd have nothing.

    Atheist soldier awaaaaaaaaay :D

Yeah, he's really something. Never seen him debate before but that too he can do very well. He outshone Hitchens who does this all the time.

If it were a debate about christianity then it would be unfair singling out the catholics, but its a debate about the catholics so its perfectly fair! They are evil, they are corrupt, fucking little kids corrupt, telling the poorest people in the world to spread aids corrupt and they deserve to have it pointed out! I dont care how many money they poor into these countries in charity, they are part of the reason that these countries are so poor in the first place.

You should subscribe to his podcast on itunes a lot of his speeches are v good, he did one in june on piracy which made me :D, he a very intelligent man.

    http://www.stephenfry.com/2009/07/27/series-2-episode-4-itunes-live-festival/

thats a link to the one on piracy, now give me some damn rep!
The one thing that really annoys me about him is his infantile sense of humor. I followed him on twitter for a while but his updates were 60% crotch jokes.

If you're interested in the piracy topic you should check out Lawrence Lessig's presentations about it. He argued in the Supreme Court against the extension of the copyright term and ever since has worked heavily in order to promote free culture (started Creative Commons). Not saying Fry is uninformed about the topic but he's a bit of a... noob.

    rep is lame

Frys speech was about how uninformed the bodies trying to stop piracy are in the uk, i found it very entertaining, although i knew most of what he said

i read what you first said and you said it was wrong for gay people to marry and adopt, thats why i told you to jump off vauxhall bridge, end up in the wash and hopefully drown.

Marriage is a religious sacrement I doubt see how Homosexuals or Atheists should be allowed get married.

Full legal rights in civil partnership on the other hand.

No marriage is a legal contract, thats why you sign a contract, a Marriage ceremony is a religious concept. The difference is being married in the eyes or your lord and being married in the eyes of the law. religion demands both. Forcing gay people to be civil partnered as opposed to married is demeaning.

having kids is a result of a man fucking a woman not ja5per putting his dick in stephen fry
You are from london but you talk like a commoner, it doesnt make sence. Telling me to suck stepehn frys cock is immature if you want to offend me do something more than adolescent humour. Just because i stand up for Gay rights doesnt make me gay, it makes me a humanist.

no it aint it a pre-requisite that it fulfills both conditions legal and religious, gay-marriage goes against the latter and so they should be happy with civil partnerships, ur comment somes up why gays are knobs in general, you want the entire fucking pie.
